First and foremost, the graphi...cs will grab you and suck you in. From the players unique body movements to the stadium lights reflecting on the court, NBA 2K7 is the best basketball video game franchise to date. The learning curve is a bit deep with the computer as a pretty tough opponent, even on normal difficulty. You almost have to be completely open to execute a successful jump shot and you have to move really quick to eek through an open lane to go up for the dunk or lay up or to pass to an open player. The extra games are pretty cool with the Street mode where you can play half or full court in various street ball playground type courts. The free throw practice can get a bit annoying especially with the six-axis free throw control. IT DOESN'T WORK WHEN YOU USE A FREE THROW SHOOTING MOTION WITH THE CONTROLLER. Thats how it was advertised, "Shoot a free throw by using the six-axis controller as a basketball." Nope. You have to hold the controller as you normally do with both hands and tilt the controller toward you to start the shot, and tilt it back to finish it. It is very hard to do. You can opt to use the shot stick control but its still tough to make a free throw shot successfully. That being said, thats one drawback to an otherwise near perfect game. The other is the players faces. They almost look like burn victims with the weird eyes and funny looking skin. Thats the only negative in terms of the graphics. The players body and skin graphics, smooth frame rates, very challenging gameplay, authentic sound effects and realistic play by play announcing makes this a very nice game to own. Free throw shooting is awful and wish they would have chosen the typical meter-bar method to make an accurate free throw shot. If they also improve the players faces and made them look less scary, this would get an Excellent vote from me. But its still a game worth owning, not renting.
Pros + Gorgeous graphics that look ultra realistic with i...ntegrated cutscenes. + Tons of different game modes to choose from. + Fun online multiplayer with a smooth framerate and no lag. Cons - Having to tweak the gameplay before it can actually be fun. - Dumber than average CPU AI that always does the same thing unless you tweak it yourself. - Terrible freethrows even with the cool controller sensitivity involved. - Besides shooting freethrows the Six-Axis controller is a pretty much a tool. Comments If you have to choose one Pro NBA game this season, NBA 2K7 is highly recommended over NBA Live 07 or NBA 07. Character models look flesh not plastic. And the online is superb with virtually no lag. There is a slight ability to mess up your opponent when shooting a freethrow that is annoying though as if it wasn't already hard enough to do. But this is so much better than EA's juggernaut that it's really not even funny. Verdict The best NBA game out this season so if you must own one this should be it.
This is a good game it w...as fun to play right away. Nice physics with alot of options to tweak the game just the way you like it. Graphics and attention to little details were terrific. OK the folks at EA Sports need to fix the soundtrack - it stinks. Great games have different soundtracks you can choose from this game could use it. The foul shot mechanics are not fluid & you will miss miss and miss. At least the person your playing will also but it takes an aspect of the game completely out of play. All in all this is still a fun game & 2K8 is not much different. If you can find it at good deal pick it up and have fun with it until they come out with 2K9. Enjoy! I usually dont like basketball g...ames but this one is fun.The graphics and detail is great, you can even see the players jerseys and shorts blow in the wind while their running, and even see the sweat running down their face, detail. Although,I didnt care to much for the controls, the left analog is touchy when doing crossovers and what not,the alleyoop and bounce passing was nice though. The right analog is used for shooting if you like bt i just used the square button to shoot. Also theirs a major change in free throws on the ps3.You have to actually move the controller just like YOU were shooting in real life, tilt back..tilt forward and up,really hard to do a at first but once you down you make more,Its a cool feature. Theres also a new game mode called 24/7 where you start as a street baller playing in different cities playing 2 on 2,1 on 1 and playing horse with these two annoying friends that follow you along the way.It takes forever to finish that but once you do its cool, you get drafted to the nba and go on from there. The online game is cool too,not to much lag,Im not sure if it has voice chat or not,I had my bluetooth powered on and i could not hear anything, maybe there is chat. There was alot of people online and they were good so alot of people must really like this game.I know 1 thing is that this game is better than nba07 for the ps3,i have played both of them.
NBA 2K7 is a great basketball game. The gra...phics are good and makes you feel like you are watching a game on TV. Players faces look very much like the real players. Game controls are customizable and easy to use. I especially like the Sixaxis controller and when you do take a free throw, you have to move the control and let it go just in time in order to make the perfect shot. I have played other basketball games and feel that this one is the best.
