Makita is one of three brands of power tools that I favor. I... have high-powered corded versions of a 3/8 drill and reciprocating saw of the other two brands. I wanted something a little less cumbersome and more convenient. This set fits that need perfectly. Both tools are lightweight but pack the power that I need for DIY work around the home. Best of all, there are no extension cord required. The batteries on these units take only about 30 minutes to charge. The safety triggers on two-handled grip takes a little getting used to using. For handed use, however, it's nice to have a choice. I can use this saw for pruning around the yard without lugging my heavier reciprocating saw and dragging cords. It's great for detail work when woodworking, too. A hammer feature would have been nice on the drill but I have a 1/2 inch corded hammer drill if it's needed. No doubt, the hammer feature on the drill would have upped the price. Makita does make such of model in the CXT class.
