...I consider this a current day western series. It's on TV but reruns episodes rarely. I began watching when the series began I really enjoyed it. (Lou Diamond Phillips stars along with an actor who reminds me of Dennis Quaid. Quaid was actually in a new series that began about the same time called Vegas with Michael Chiklas). I discussed Longmire with my brother because I know he likes westerns but he only has basic cable so was unable to get it. So Series 1 turned out to be the perfect Christmas gift for him. He LOVES it...has only watched 2 episodes but is trying to make it last. Guess I will try to get Series 2 for his birthday in March. I do have to say some of the plots are a little unrealistic but I still like it and so does he. Includes a small town sheriff running for re-election against one of his deputies (with a little shaky backing) plus Lou Diamond Phillip intervening as a sort of liaison between the sheriff & the Indian reservation and their own law enforcement.
modern law and order with sheriff Longmire who is a bit old sc...hool. Very entertaining and also featuring Lou Diamond Philips in a good role

I love a good cop show. But let's face it...since cop shows ...came to be there have been hundreds, if not thousands of mediocre shows produced. Cops from the future, cops from the past, cops in wheelchairs and even a blind cop (I really like Ron Eldard but a blind NYPD guy was pushin' it even by today's standards) And then along came Longmire. I saw the previews. Saw this gorgeous hunk of manliness and asked myself "hmmm, whats THIS all about"? I have not been disappointed. Robert Taylor is terrifically sexy as the charming but awkward sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Awkward not in his professional life but achingly out of touch with the world since his beloved Martha died. Couple Taylor's charm and rugged good looks with excellent scripts and a great supporting cast and you've got a winner of a show. Cassidy Freeman as Cady, Longmire's lawyer daughter is seemingly the only family Longmire has. I will not give away any details regarding the hit their relationship takes during season 1. Bailey Chase is the square jawed Deputy Branch Connolly. Every week I ask myself "how the hell does he get those pants on ?" I am not complaining. Again, secrets abound, I will not spill. Lou Diamond Phillips is wonderful as Longmire's longtime, long suffering friend Henry. Of course Henry owns a bar as every tv cop's best friend does. Katee Sackoff is the "fresh off the Philly PD"cop who is hired before the first season aired. We are only now beginning to see glimpses of "Vic's" past. And then there is The Ferg. The adorable, bumbling deputy with the heart of gold played by Adam Bartley. Keep your eye on The Ferg, he's got a lot more on the ball than you might think. Last but not least is Ruby, the dispatcher, secretary, office manager and basically the woman who runs Longmire's life. Longmire is a way above average TV cop show. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
I purchased season one of Longmire for my friends ...husband as I knew he would like (and they did not have streaming) I am on season six for the second watch for me. Love this show. Wish they had more.

Longmire is the best series ever mad...e period! From episode one through the end this series keeps you on your toes and lost in the story with the Longmire cast. They do not make series like this anymore & this is a true keeper. Longmire Forever!
