ALRIGHT!!! I get to write eBay's first review of this CD. What DID you expect? First of all, this would be Black Sabbath except for legal issues AND that the band itself wanted it this way. So if and when I say Sabbath, mentally erase that and put Heaven and Hell in your mind. This cd is SABBATH! From start to finish, these fellows play very, very tight. These fellows are: Dio, Iommi, Geezer, and Vinny Appice. Also, I believe Scott Warren plays keyboards(behind a curtain?) ala the way a certain Geoff Nicholls did for many years for "Black Sabbath". Kudos to the person or persons involved with the mixing of this cd. In every song the vocals, guitar, bass, and drums (and keyboards when present) are all heard without straining to hear any one of them. Did Dio lose anything in the 27 years since the cd Heaven and Hell came out? You'll have to listen to this and judge for yourself. Iommi mixes it up from chords to lead to chords again. Vinny throws in some runs here and there with the rest of his good drumming throughout the cd. He also has a nice extended solo in The Devil Cried, after which the rest of the band, led by the keyboards, slowly works its' way back in. Except for this song, Scott Warren's key work doesn't stand out noticeably, but fills in nicely when Iommi does a solo. And last, but definitely not least, is Geezer's bass work. On this, you'll hear the bass lines that came with these songs. BUT, I was really impressed with all quirks, throw ins, scales, runs, etc. His work on all the Sabbath cds is good and steady, but he really shows something when he plays live. But, of course, so do Dio, Iommi, and Appice. Songwise, there are 6 from the Heaven and Hell cd, 5 from The Mob Rules(counting the E5150 intro), ONLY 3 from Dehumanizer, and 2 of the 3 new ones they wrote. Now for my only complaint. (All you fans and the band members may throw rotten fruit at me.) Every Dio-based song on Black Sabbath's "Live Evil" is on here. A couple of different ones from The Mob Rules would have been o.k., and of course, some more from Dehumanizer would've really been nice(readers, use e.s.p. and figure out which ones)! What DID you expect from this album? If it was tight, heavy music from some seasoned pros, you got what you wanted.Read full review
This is an excellent CD. Owned the DVD first then bought this. The CD is the extended concert, a few more songs. The quality of the recording is top notch, and over-all this is an excellent performance. Having been a Sabbath fan for almost 30 years, I have seen this band many times with all of their different line-ups, etc. I own all their major released albums and dozens of collector's albums. This is better than "Live Evil", "Live at Last", and "Cross Purposes Live". Equal or on par with "Reunion" and some of the Born Again '83 collectors's CD's I have such as "Gillian the Hero," "Live at Hammersmith Odeon" and "Live in Chicago 1983." This album is definitely worth a listen for all Sabbath fans.
This cd is awesome! If your a old school Black Sabbath fan this is definently a must have album for you! The sound quality is great, and the Heaven and Hell gang really shred it up!!! This cd rocks and really sounds like their real concert music. For the most part the songs are the same as the ones they played for their '09 tour in the U.S. Once again this is a must have cd thats great listening, and if your a true Dio-Sabbath fan like me its definetly a neccessity in your album collection!! Heaven And Hell ROCKS!!!
It really is not better then I expected, as l had this cd in the past. It is a great cd with great sound quality.everything on rhino label sounds tremendous.
