I have one of these and the thing is tough that's for sure. I've had this particular one for about 6 yrs or so and Its been all over the place. You can really dial in some great tones with it. The classic line 6 tones are top notch in these pre-usb era models, true grit , smooth, and triply if you're into the acid rock type. Plus if you like earlier Metal this was the amp most young musicians were playing in the late 90's. I kind of prefer it over a lot of other amps strung about that may be because I am familiar with it though I think its because it reminds me of that time era and the sound is comforting . Really, I guess it depends on what you are using it for. Its quick and versatile. But... It is what it is and it will never be a Marshal JCM or one of the Fender Classics there is no substitute for them and they're not trying to be, but its a great intermediate-pro model and for $100 you cant beat these second edition Spiders. Rock on man!!Read full review

These Line 6 modeling amps are awesome I have been using them exclusively now since about 6 years ago, when I switched from bass to lead guitar. I went to the Spider III to get all the preset amp tones but I really find that I don't use them. I find that with the 12 different amp presets on the front of the amp and the eq section and effects I just save four self created sounds to the four recall buttons on the front of the amp. 1) clean with phasing and choral effect, 2) simple Fender clean, 3) traditional, dirty blues, 4) distorted rock/blues ala ZZtop/SRV, etc. The amp has plenty of kick I really never get it much above 2, probably 3 max in a larger venue. I do not think there is any sound you may be looking for that you can't create on these. And they last forever with no issues. I still have my Spider II which has 100,s of hours on it over many, many years and dozens of gigs in all sorts of weather conditions and its all still perfect. I recommend this head highly.Read full review

I have played in cover bands for years and I have 6 amps now but this one covers all the sounds I need with channel changing when paired with the FB4 foot pedal. A great amp!

The amp is a beast! You don't want to use this for traveling and playing unless you have your own roadie :). It's extremely powerful and loud, and I'm used to that, but this will push your hair back.

I'm using it as a practice amp when 2 marshall JMP stacks are too much. Modeling is obviously set to a marshall and I am really impressed with it's sound.
