La Futura [Digipak] by ZZ Top (CD, Sep-2012, Mercury)
After a gestation of pretty much 2 years, and an absence of output for 8(!) years plus some inventive pre-marketing, (including a digital-only EP) for me this long awaited ZZT album is very welcome. Its taken a few play-throughs to get down into the mixes, for all the Gibbons nuance thats always there, but its stayed in my car stereo since i had it, and it really ticks the ZZT box big time! Shame that to get the extra 2 trax that should have been included in the first Futura, i had to buy the 'enhanced' version too. Thats the cynicism of the record industry for you!!
I bought this CD because I grew up with ZZ Top. One of the TOP bands I have ever listened to. There is never a CD or song that ZZ Top could make that I would NOT like. I just wish they would come out with a few more albums before they call it quits. But who am I? I'm not part of the group that has been going strong since the '70s. Over 40 years in the spotlight. As always....way to go ZZ Top - Billy, Dusty and Frank!
After what seems like decades of enticing progress reports from the recording studio, ZZ Top‘s first new album in eight years, ‘La Futura,’ has arrived. The flood of “return to glory” talk may run counter to the proper enjoyment of this record, which after all that time and effort somewhat surprisingly reveals itself as more of a low-key and charming affair.
The new ZZ Top album. For me one of the best of their carrer. When you heard the 12 songs, il's the paradise. My favorite song is : It's so easy manana. It's a recommended album for all people who like rock. Thanks ZZ Top, and please another album like this in the futrure.
this is another underrated and overlooked album from ZZ Top really catchy, "hooky" guitar and a blues/boogie blend of music no synthesizers or drum machines here put CD on & simply listen from start to finish
