Windows-based phone software leaves much to be desired in an Apple/android-based world. Understandable why this item is priced where it is.

Primary i had necessary in android communicator, that works both in CDMA and GSM cellular networks outside USA. GSM module is unlocked in this phone, works fine with european GSM networks. A slight drawback is lack of automatical APN, MMS settings. Also absence of FM-radio is disappointing feature. Cellular network reception is good, without any problems. Voice quality is not so good as other phones. Volume level is sufficient, but voice sound is muffled with metallic tones. The second requirement was good quality HD screen and contemporary Android version. Android 4.1.2 update available. I installed update immediately, using PC utility. OTA update does not work outside USA. A big problem is multiple preinstalled Verizon's bloatware. It takes very much space in phone's memory, but absolutely useless outside Verizon coverage. It can be disabled, but not uninstalled without root. Camera photo and video capture is excellent in daylight, but in low light conditions is horrible. Panorama mode works good, but shots have very low vertical resolution. HDR mode is useless. Very desireable was battery life above average in Android phones. In fact it is not so good, as described in Phonearena.com review. If I use my phone just for calls and messagin, it lives 2-3 days. In hard use (navigation, Internet, photo, video) it lives up to 1 day. Design is excellent as for me. I hate modern rounded design, ant this slab-like phone looks very solid. I suppose, that not everybody will like design. I had possibility to compare LG Spectrum 2 with Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung has not preinstalled bloatware, better camera, better vioce quality, but a little shorter battery life, and as for me auful design like a piece of soap.Read full review
This is probably the best phone if you are a fan of Stock Android and are on Verizon (no Nexus 5). This phone has NFS and wireless charging, making it one of the best value phones on the market. Many others are more expensive, but lack these critical features. It has normal battery life, nothing exceptional, a great screen and camera as do most smartphones these days. It is a large screen, but relatively thin and light. I cannot tell the difference in weight in my hand between this phone and the Nexus 5. Lastly, LG does not install any optimized software, making the Spectrum 2 an ideal candidate for rooting to Stock Android- unlike handsets such as the Galaxy S3, S4, or HTC One. These phones will suffer in certain areas like the camera in the Samsung phones and the audio quality in the HTC because once rooted to Stock, that optimization is gone, and the basic OS does not do as good of a job.Read full review
Pretty good phone. Fast, large screen. Only problem is that after about a week of use (I bought it used on eBay, not sure how long the previous owner had it), the screen orientation calibration function will no longer work-- error message repeatedly. That means the screen will not rotate on its own-- you must force it each time regardless of what is checked or not checked in the screen orientation settings. If you are using an app that uses landscape by default such as YouTube or the native camera app, the screen will not switch back to portrait unless I force it manually. VERY annoying, not sure why this is happening. All in all, the phone is sleek and since I own it, I am not forced into a cell provider's contract. Difficult to find accessories now that the phone is no longer "new". Battery life is poor but charges quickly. If screen orientation is important to you as it is to me, you may want to avoid this phone.Read full review
