Great smart phone!
This phone replaced my wife's ancient cell phone, it was purchased because it was T-Mobile compatible and I already had an LG L45C that I loved. This one is very similar in operation, so it was easy for her to learn. The LG P509 has great features, and using the web is quick - good on 3G but really fast on wi-fi. Battery life is better than expected; size is just right for us, not real big like an iPhone, but screen size is fine for pics and videos. Incoming calls come in clear, and there are lots of settings for calls, display, etc. Overall a great phone, does a lot of things but doesn't require weeks of learning like fancier phones. Love it!

Not too bad of a phone, especially if you find a used deal under $40! :)
I've used this phone for the past year- it's a basic android capable of running a lot of different apps, however, it does fall short if you are a "gamer"- You can run (NOT ALL SOME FACTORY, find them on PlayMarket) FB (factory), Ebay, PayPal, Pandora, PicsArt (a great free pic editing app!), free music, ringtone editor apps, reads pdf's, calenders, widgets & more. I dropped mine in a cup of coffee, & it still didn't totally kill it (just the back button & muffled the microphone!) I am reordering another used one for under $40. So, all in all, a great starter phone for newer or basic android users- or anyone wanting a deal! (Notably: I use T-Mobile, Prepaid! $50.00 totally unlimited plan- it is an ADDITIONAL $15 to use the hotspot feature to run a laptop. Yes, this phone has this function. I have hotspot too. I would say the internet works great unless I'm trying to load Farmville... :-P Notably, you get a certain amount of 4g then it goes to 2G network. (Me? usually two days worth of 4g lol) 4g = great; 2g=grrr this isn't loading fast enough...) *shrug* But I'm frugal and I WANT A DEAL. So, for $50, decent service in the city (but not in the boondocks AT ALL) and does most things most androids do, if you can find it at a deal, snag it up! Read full review

Amazing Entry-Level Android Phone!!
I bought this phone because I needed a phone that would do what my IPOD does: surf the internet, download apps, provide driving directions AND make phone calls. I wanted to use the Android market and the Apple Apps Store. The one area of this phone I like most is the "customizeability" of this phone. For an entry-level Android phone, it has a lot of features. I also rooted the phone which gives me "superuser" priviledges and allows me more ways to customize the phone to my personal tastes and style. Before this phone, I had a LG Vu CU920 and the LG Optimus T rocks compared to the LG Vu. It's like comparing ribeye steaks to hotdogs: no comparison. If I didn't like my iPod so much, I would sell the iPod and use this phone exclusively. Some things I wish it had that it doesn't are: custom face plates and battery covers (colors); camera button and flash; better screen lighting for outdoor use (all phones have this problem). Overall this phone is awesome FOR THE PRICE. Remember, this is an entry-level Android phone, not an HTC or iPhone, but it gives you a great phone at a great price. Read full review

Not a bad budget phone. Don't spend more than $75 for it used.
This is a pretty decent phone. It's small and lightweight. If you need something basic to make phone calls and even play some games, then this phone isn't half bad. The phone used to retail for $100+ and refurbed for $100. If you're planning to buy this phone used, I wouldn't spend anything over $75. As I mentioned before the phone is a budget phone. It has ample ram/memory at 512mb, but it's real weakness though is it's processor speed that clocks only at 600mhz. Today's phones to run games and apps at a sufficient speed should at LEAST be 800mhz.. but moreso 1ghz is optimal. You can see the comparison by looking at a slighlty model phone.. the LG Mytouch 4g. That phone uses a 1ghz processor and you can really see the difference in speed. The 600mhz processor on the Optimus T slows down when texting. Sometimes it can slow to a crawl. Otherwise, the phone usually runs pretty good. Please remember to edit your account preferences so that it is not constantly syncing data. This is the main reason why your phone will lose alot of battery. Read full review

GOOD FOR FIRST TIME SMART PHONE BUYER
This is my first smartphone and it is a good choice for what it is. I am a prepaid T-Mobile customer and T-Mobile charges $1.50 daily for access to internet based services like facebook, youtube, twitter etc. Note however that after you have used up 30mb the internet speed is downgraded from 3g to 2g so you will no longer be able to watch any videos through the cellular service. Call quality is not as good as my old samsung 239 feature phone but it is passable. Battery life is atrocious! I have to charge this thing on a daily basis. With my old feature phone I could keep it charged for almost a week. I guess that is what you get will all smart phones. After about a year or two I will upgrade to one with at least a 1 ghz processor. By then they should be cheap.
