Some parts of this video are quite challe...nging. It has traditional weight exercises for arms that are repeated three times. The aerobics become progressively more challenging, culminating in a short but tough high impact segment. There is virtually no exercise to strengthen the legs. I think the workout is good for its purpose--to keep your weight in check from Thanksgiving through New Year. That is the window of time most people overeat anyway. It is meant to be used on a regular basis (i.e. at least 3x per week). It is a good cardio and arm strengthening workout, but does nothing for the rest of the body (i.e. legs and abs). She is a cheerful lady, and I like her a lot, although some people find her jokes annoying. The set is very Christmas-y and the canned music is upbeat. The whole experience puts you in a holiday mood. I recommend it for use in conjunction with other workouts that address the other body areas.
I bought this video because I was curious ...about it. I'd read discussions about it every Holiday season and finally curiousity got the better of me. If you are a video collector and want it just for collector's purposes, go for it. Otherwise, save your money. It is a very silly, albeit well intentioned workout. I appreciate Joanie's good intentions but it really isn't much of challenge at all. It's poorly choreographed and executed but I can see why it is somewhat of a holiday tradition for some collectors.
