The bad: At least for this shotgun (Remington 870 20 g...a. Purchased brand new) this was not an exact replacement for the wood stock that it replaced. The drop at the heel was close to 2" less than the original stock, and that made the gun fit my form horribly. ( It may be an improvement for some shooters) Looked for shims on-line, only to discover that they don't make after-market shims (not that I could find anyway). Also, the Hogue stock has about a 1/8" gap between the transition between the receiver and the stock. That does not really affect performance I don't think, but is an aesthetic issue. ( I saw another review online that mentioned the same thing). Wasn't sure what to do until my son (who is majoring in Mechanical Engineering) and has built his own 3-D printer looked at it and said "No worries, I'll print some shims". So he took some measurements, used black filament, attached with Black Weatherstrip Adhesive, and presto, great fit. He then looked at the gap, took measurement, and printed a spacer. Attached the same way, and now I have a good-fitting, good looking gun. Thank God for Technology and a son is way smarter than I am. The Good: Well made product (except for fitting issue) and I personally like the palm swell and the forearm. It does reduce weight to overall gun, and since I will be using this to hunt quail in the desert, it should be just about bullet proof. The included recoil pad is a big improvement over the stock one.

I purchased this stock and forend co...mbo to put on an 870 20 gauge express. I was not aware the shotgun was a child/youth model hence the new stock in an adult configuration. I had the same issue one of the other reviewers did with the space between the receiver and the stock. I merely sanded down the mating block area until the space was eliminated using a Dremel Multimax. I did not have any issue with the forend at all. However, this shotgun is much harder to reassemble than the 12 gauge version of the 870 which I used to own. I have arthritis in my hands and if I had known the reassembly would be so difficult, I would have purchased some other brand of 20 gauge.

These stocks are the most comfortable stocks... a person can put on a gun .The rubber grip on the forend and at the pistol grip allows for complete control under the most adverse weather conditions . They reassure you that you have complete control for your safety and those around you . They are number 1 in my opinion .

Stock and forearm components look and feel good. Have not fir...ed the shotgun with them yet. My only issue so far is that the stock bolt required 2 shim washers to keep the bolt from bottoming out and allow the stock to become sufficiently tight to the receiver

Had to file off a fraction of an inch where the forear...m locknut clamps down on the forearm. The molded plastics was 1/16" too long and the gun would not lock up properly. Five minutes with a dremel grinder and it fit fine.
