Wonderful boo...ks with a handy timeline feature on every other page. Book opens to display historical events on the two pages open to your view (very nice) & the timeline is down the far left hand side of the book. Very nice pictures displaying costume, culture, architecture, art/artifacts, trade, maps, etc. Historical figures and events are listed by topic (this one is Kingdoms & Empires) but they have 5 other topical books, I have 4 total of the 6. These will accompany history study well as there is an index to locate your subject. Articles are short and provide highlights and interesting facts of the subject. My kids were excited to receive them & began reading immediately. I can't wait to use these with our history study during our homeschool time. The only possible con is that they are not exactly chronological, but this is largely due to overlap of some eras, times, etc. (For instance - Fujiwara Japan is listed from AD 593 - AD 1000's & the next page is Chinese Dynasties; listed from AD 220 - AD 960. The index should help with this. Additionally - they aren't written to be chronological because the author has organized these by topic. These are very nice and I will seek the last two books of the set.
