im a buyer
my path to this phone as a smartphone user has been like so: iPhones up to 3GS from the org THEN moto atrix 4G (running android 3.0 first than i decided to try android 2.3 as i read it was more stable cuz 3.0 was actually built for their tablets but the atrix specs were able to run 3.0 so they whored out the atrix at first with 3.0 to give it and edge lol) THEN htc status (running 2.3) ive used it for less than a day but i was already well familiar with android 2.3 (10 months user), so i feel like i can give an honest review. Aside from the battery life which ive read is a solid 6-7 hours talk time which is just enough to get me through the day, i knew how android 2.3 operated so i was able to set it up right away and quickly got friendly with the Status. I LOVE HAVING A KEYBOARD AGAIN!!! the built of the phone is solid for the price, also my first white phone. wish the screen was just a tad larger say 3in instead of 2.6in.. EZ to use and although their selling point was the whole Facebook thing, when you get past that marketing gimmick, you realize its just a solid phone for the price and is almost a android version of the blackberry.. u can still use the touch screen which i do for functions but as far as text, emails and dialing i use the keypad which is why i got this phone.. IF U WANT A KEYPAD PHONE FOR AT&T THIS IS A GREAT OPTION AND THE PRICE IS SO AWESOME THAT EVEN IF YOU DON'T BUY FROM EBAY YOU CAN BUY FROM EBAY OTHER RETAILERS SUCH AS AMAZON, JR MUSIC, NEWEGG, ETC... AND NOT RENEW YOUR CONTRACT WITH AT&T WHICH MAKES THEM CRINGE WHEN THEY HAVE ACCOUNTS THAT AREN'T CONTRACTED (TRUST ME :)) i def consider myself a "techie' gadget lover (i currently own ipad, macbook, thrive tablet, pc notebook and desktop, multiple personal gadgets ipod touch, bloggies, etc.. and i always try to fix most comp probs before i ask someone else or take ti somewhere) so if you want any credibility in my opinions that is all i can provide. personal advice from using android thus far (i do like the user capabilities far more than ios) BUT WORD OF ADVICE ONLY GET APPS FROM WELL RESPECTED SELLERS ie evernote, juice defender, your typical bank apps, other corporate apps, avoid the temptation of some game that looks cool but is free and prolly from some russian or chinese hacker that put spam in it and terrorizes your messaging lol!Read full review
Awesome for Facebook...Not so awesome for multiple and heavy app use.
I had to downgrade (I previously owned a Samsung Infuse....I broke it). I call it a downgrade because I had a very big screen. I didn't realize how accustomed I had become to having such a large screen. The HTC Status is wonderful! I like having the keyboard. I have had it for a week and am still getting used to its quirks....like pressing a button to answer instead of swiping the screen. Also, there is no swipe texting....but why would you need that when you have the keyboard. It does NOT have internal memory which makes it problematic when you want to update your apps....or if you are an avid multiple app user (you WILL run out of memory). Best bet, if you buy the phone, buy a very large micro sd card to hold your applications, phone numbers, and any photos or music. My bottom line is I like the phone....even with all the above said. I use just the basic apps and LOVE facebook...so this works for me just fine.Read full review
Good phone, but not for everyone. Especially if a keyboard is optional to u
I love this phone! It's a perfect mid-range smartphone! The keyboard is comfy and the phone is aesthetically pleasing! Front camera, ability to run apps, and facebook dedication is a great plus. The major problems are: 1. The piss poor battery life 2. Glitches. The phone randomly shuts down the desktop application and has to restart. And that happens very often. I don't understand why that happens! But when I google any solutions, I can't find any!
a great phone
I really love this phone. I am 63 yrs old and have trouble with the newer touch screens. I can access nearly everything with good size buttons on this phone. I can even text easily and may soon learn to use both hands to text! I will note that you do have to use the touch screen to unlock the phone, but that always works easily so far, and the phone is a touch screen--you just do not have to use it if you have problems. the arrow keys and enter key will achieve the same result. I do not have a data plan but the phone works great as a phone and picks up wi fi where available. A great purchase. I love just being able to press a button to answer a call, even when the phone is locked!
Very nice little phone
I am still trying to get all the bells and whistles in order on this phone. It is a very light weight phone, and after I went to the internet and downloaded the manual, I was very happy with this phone. I could not make up my mind between this phone and a Blackberry. I just need a phone so I got this one. Very pleased with it.
