In this 3rd book, M.J. Holliday and her business partner, Gilley Gillespie go from Boston to San Francisco, where Gil has set her up on the new Bravo channel show, "Haunted Possessions," as a guest medium along with three other mediums. She really hates doing this sort of thing, because she is afraid of being exploited and besides that, she has never even heard of the other three psychics who are going to be on the show. They arrive in S.F. along with M.J.'s boyfriend, Dr. Steven Sable, who is also their financial backer. They are put up at the grand Duke Hotel where the show will be filmed. Construction has been going on to renovate a large part of the old hotel which has stirred up a lot of the ghost who reside there. Upon arrival, they are just in time to see a body surrounded by police near the underground garage. Rumor has it the young woman jumped, but M.J. senses her spirit and knows that the woman was pushed out the window after being hit on the head. This is only one in a few unnatural deaths that occur at the hotel during their stay. M.J. also scopes out the other 3 psychics and realizes that the only one who isn't a phoney is Heath Whitfeather. While paring with him on the last segment of the first show, an ornamental type dagger is laid on the table in front of them, by persons unknown and immediately M.J. and Heath are attacked by a demon who resides in the blade. As it turns out, the dagger is a portal to the lower realms and while M.J. and Heath are getting their cuts attended to, the knife disappears, only to be found in the chest of another woman who works for the show. Now the demon is loose in the hotel and she and Heath, with the help of Detective MacDonald, must form a plan to get the beast back where it belongs. Along the way, they are also being paid to help the lost souls of ghost to pass over. A few demonic possessions later and a big mystery attached to 4 gold mirrors finally leads the team to giving evil an early checkout. Each of Ms. Laurie's books become more intense than the last and will have you looking over your shoulder a few times. It looks like Heath will be part of the regular team from now on, since a preview into the next book shows them all on their way to Edinburgh, Scotland and starting up a new TV series called "Ghoul Getters."Read full review
