The Garmin GPSMAP 162 Sounder GPS Receiver is an excellent handheld GPS for the money. The manufacturer has installed many user-friendly features that make the first time buyer or the professional happy. They manufacturer has excellent customer service and many additional add-ons to make this unit an extremely versatile GPS to be used in town, on trips, hunting, fishing, cycling, hiking, four wheeling or camping. Suggestion: 1. Purchase an Amplified External GPS Antenna for the unit. The internal antenna is ok but will become intermittent in high buildings, cloudy skies and stormy weather. Purchase a quality, high gain remote antenna. See specification on 28dB and 55dB GPS antenna at: http://stores.ebay.com/FIS4HER1-COM_W0QQssPageNameZL2 Cheers – Fis4her
This is an old model, but works perfectly. I use it for sailboat racing and it has a large display in monochrome, so to me works much better in daylight than color models. It has an integrated antenna, so no worries there. I mount it on the sliding hatch, so it is easily removable and very visible from the steering station.

Perfect unit for small boats operating in inland waterways such as the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries. Super easy to use. Easy to install. I have both the internal and external antenna models on my two boats, and have had good luck with both. My internal antenna model has worked flawlessly for almost 10 years.
I thought at first, this product wasn't going to work. Had a glitch. But I have been out 4-5 times now and have not had a problem. I am happy with the way everything was handled and saved money in the process. This item is obsolete by the manufacturer, but since I had all the wiring and sensor already installed on my boat, I had to get a used GPS.
Works perfect Great condition Just as described
