Best features, good battery life, easy to use, i highly recommend this GPS
I bought this product to keep track of my dog in thick scrub and in tall crop, does every thing thing I wanted it to, good battery life, good features, the display is pretty good and it has different map functions, One to point to the dog, and another to show where its been, the distance and direction reading are actuate. If I have to fault it on something it would be that when the dog is along way away(800-1000m +) I have to get out of the Ute because it seems to interfere with the Ute(phones,UHF ect) and point in the wrong direction, but when I get out and hold it still it swings around and points well, you may not even have this problem, and you can connect other collars, anyone looking at this product, I highly recommend it
Easy to Use, and add additional receivers for complete Camp site tracking
Used the Garmin Astro 220 to keep tag's on everyone in a hunting party. It works great. The Person staying at camp keeps the garmin while everyone else gets a dog collar.( Easy to remove the orange collar). You can add as many collar tags you want. You push (dog) and then select which one u want to tag, else you just push map and you can see where everyone is. You will need to get a Topo mag, doesnt come with one. As far as ease of use, downright easy. Main buttons are on the front. You rarely go into the menu, only to start a new hunt, or to add a new collar.
Freedom for the urban dog
I am not a hunter, not opposed to it, I just am not into it. For me the Garmin dog collar gps serves another purpose. We live against a wilderness area, and with the Garmin system we can let the dogs run never having to worry about where they are. Only limitation is the terrain. Occasionally the dogs go over a ridge into a ravine or under thick foliage and temporarily lose contact. Never for long though. This freedom of movement, monitored electronically helps keep our vey active dogs happy and healthy. Delivery of the unit was fast and the negotiation painless.
The dogs gonads!!
I have a Trailhound dog and he just loves to follow his nose for miles & miles, but he doesn't like following my commands too much so I bought this collar to keep track of him. So far the Garmin bundle has been excellent! I can now let Monty roam freely without the stress of wondering which way he has gone and I can track him down to put him back on the lead when required. These Garmin items are most commonly used for hunting, for which I'm sure they are excellent. They are a bit pricey tho... but for Me they have been worth every penny :-)
outstanding, makes running my wifes hound less stressful.
I purchased this product because my beagle keeps running gray foxes and doesn't stay close enough to catch. The compass direction when we can't hear him is great in recovering him. My only dislike is the road map page as I call it is to general or zoomed out. Other then the road map page I am complety happy with this gps and collar receiver.
