I haven't done a final assembly on this kit yet, but the neck seats tightly into the heel. The neck was twisted when it arrived, I straightened it using the iron on the fretboard method (I actually over-twisted it so I'll have to go back a bit). This also drew the fret ends out and they popped up a bit, so they will need a leveling and polishing if they didn't already, but I was planning on doing that anyway. The electronics came totally pre-wired, but I won't be using them as I'm replacing almost every component for a new wiring scheme. I am currently finishing the body. It came pretty well sanded and ready to go, but I gave it another pass with 220 grit sandpaper before wiping it down and spraying the primer. The soft basswood feathers up easily but it's also easy to see the rough spots after primer is applied, and to then sand it down. There are a few deeper pits but very tiny, I'm hoping the color coats will fill these in. The body was probably 5 pieces glued together, with no grain pattern to speak of, so a stain or transparent finish would not be a good option. Opaque will be just fine. In all, I'm very happy with the kit so far. There are no pre-drilled holes in the body or neck for screws, which means the freedom and the responsibility of getting the neck, bridge, pickguard, etc. properly positioned is on the buyer/builder. I knew what I was buying and I was pleased with what I got. This is a great kit for a DIY guitar, it could be an easy first build, and with some care and upgraded electronics it has a lot of potential to actually come out as a pretty solid axe.Read full review

The neck in my kit needed some work but it was fun to learn to level and dress the the frets...they actually werent too bad except they were cut a little long and needed filing and smoothing on the ends. The body was nice, the wood looked nice enough for a dark stain but I painted mine. The kit electronics are suprisingly decent sounding although I upgraded mine with a used loaded pickguard I found for $10. With some work and attention to detail and a few upgrades this makes a great guitar, I play the hell out of mine and I have two real Fenders.

Ordered this kit and it had some issues(neck bent in the wrong direction slightly, and the trussrod was loose in the neck) after fixing the issues and properly building this guitar it plays wells and feels great. The pickups are great for the cost ( sound terrible on some songs but great on others). Just be aware you need to drill all holes

I haven't started working on this yet, but so far i am impressed. The body and neck are in pristine condition, unlike some kits which have nicks and dents or have bad cuts of wood. This one seems wonderful, i can't wait to start working on it!

I was a little skeptical at first. This thing fit right together and bolted up perfectly. I stained a deep red and retained the grain of the wood. Left it uncoated for a rugged, natural feel. Was impressed, I ordered 2 more!
