The name Duke Nukem harkens back to a day when over the top gaming was the thing. This is the second game to use the tomb raider over the shoulder perspective in the classic ps one trilogy of games. The game isn't overly complicated, if it moves shoot it, if you see ammo grab it, and if all else fails destroy everything. A decent stress reliever and there are funny little easter eggs strewn through out the game. Should you buy it? If you want to hope on the band wagon before the long awaited 12 year hiatus release of a next gen Duke Nukem drives the classics through the roof then yes. If you're looking for a game with major character developement and a convulted plot then no, don't buy it. This is purely a guilty pleasure game. It's origins started on pc in the day of dos games and eventually eveolved to what it is today: pure unadultered, mindless fun. You're not killing humnas your killing aliens. You're not in it for the glory of being a hero you're in it to rescue the women. Just pure and simple shoot them up fun. To over think on the game would kill it's appeal.Read full review
Duke Nukem games have always hit that blast everything away with the added bonus of putting down the enemies he's ventilating. My personal option is Duke Nukem shouldn't of ever left the FPS catagory. All of a sudden he's playing like Tomb Raider, granted a lot more gunning involved. Duke Nukem - Land of the Babes is the last of this great series I can grab without going to a PC. The Playstation had a great line on the series and to the Platstation 2 jump, I've never seen Duke Nukem come out again. Feels like the creators of the series ran out of gas and never bothered filling up again. They were hints of a new game coming out but nothing that ever saw the sun of day, well except for that Duke Nukem Zero that came out on the Nintendo 64 I believe. Sorry, but since Nintendo dropped the controler for the Super Nintendo- I've never looked back. I hate seeing a great system get downplayed by the controller but sometimes change is good and too much is overdose... Back to Duke Nukem - Land of the Babes. This is the weakest of the three games to come out on the Playstation but it is also the last. Being the weakest doesn't make it a bad game. All Duke Nukem games are mostly top notch but it makes the series end on a wimper instead of what Duke is known for, the BANG!!! This game does keep the Duke tradition of weapons and each new weapon brings on new ways to give pain. I'm just a Duke Nukem diehard I guess. I'd love to see the series remade for the PS2 but now that system has almost outlived it usefulness with Sony, unfortunally. On a double unfortunally, PS3 and these next generation systems are too rich for my tastes. Having the very best of all systems all the time is reaching the point to where the pricetag is like a car. I grew up with the Super Nintendo and the Playstation and I don't care for games that get more complex than that. Duke Nukem - Land of the Babes is almost mindless and relaxing gameplay. Shoot-kill, Shoot-kill, repeat as much as needed.Read full review
Duke is relaxing in a bar when suddenly a wormhole opens and a babe from the future comes out of it. She asks Duke to help her and her fellow babes to fight against the evil aliens that invaded earth and killed all the men in the future. A few aliens followed the babe and after traveling through time, they come out of the wormhole and kill her. Duke quickly kills the aliens and jumps into the wormhole leading to future earth, where he is the only man alive, and all the women are slaves to the aliens. Duke must make his way to the aliens's leader, rescuing babes, trying to eliminate him and the threat he poses to earth. The graphics are not the best for a PSX game but you can still make out whatever you need to. Characters and enemies are not very detailed and Duke himself isn't so detailed also. While the rest of Duke's body is somewhat satisfying, Duke's head looks a square, which is really ugly considering the fact the Duke is supposed to be handsome. Most of the environment is not very detailed either, so you will get boring from looking around right from the start. However, effects like electricity, explosions or even dying enemies look really nice. My problem with graphics is that sometimes Duke will stand in a place where the camera has to change its position, and this can make you look through walls and other objects lying around. The gameplay has its downsides. Like I mentioned above, most of the levels are very long, and combining with that music and the sometimes hard to figure out objectives, you can get turned off very easily. Although being long and tiresome, the levels offer quite a challenge of completing them and finding all the secrets in every one, thus unlocking cheats such as temporary invisibility, double damage, unlimited ammo, and many more. However, trying to achieve these goals can also be tiresome and frustrating, since the levels are long, and many turns lead to dead ends. Aside from being long and sometimes frustrating, some levels are very fun to play while others are completely boring. In one level you can be in outer space, kicking the crap out of stupid aliens that try to get in your way, while in the other you try to fight for your life underwater where your objectives are boring and moving around is hard and complicated. The enemies are also annoying at certain times. Some enemies can be quite hard to kill like the Pigcops while others shouldn't even be in the game like certain apes. Most of time you won't have problems dealing with the enemies though. It's getting through the level without being bored is what the real challenge is. Other than the regular 1 player story mode, you have the option of getting used to the controls and learning how to play the game in a training mode. In training mode you have an obstacle course, a target range, a swimming pool and a battle simulation. There is also a multiplayer option called "Dukematch", which is another name for deathmatch. In "Dukematch", 2 players try to kill each other scoring frags on the way. The player who reaches the set amount of kills first is the winner. I wouldn't suggest buying this game since it's mostly boring. There is a shower cut scene, so I guess thats nice, but overall, this just was a knock off of Doom.Read full review
If your a dude with a love of buffet style eating and shooting crap with guns than this game is for you. Although it wont get you laid or fed it will how ever fill in that time when you should be out trying to get laid with lots of gun fire and breast. Breast are awesome and so are guns. Tell your mom your want breasts and guns for your next birthday or any dam day that ends in Y. Then tell her she can save a lot of money on the hookers, assault rifles and therapy bills by simply buying this game because it has it all with counseling by the one and only Doctor Duke Nukem, hes got a PHD in kicking your ass. Hes got balls of steel ya know.
