Of course, it's hard for a beginning student, who doesn't have much background in modern physics, to say much about his first modern physics textbook. What I can say is that it is helpful and comprehensible, and not extremely difficult to read. I bought it because it was required for my class.
It teaches the material well. The downsides were that the formulas were often jumbled into a bunch of derivation, and so it was hard to go back through and study main ideas without having to weed through the derivations again.
I needed this book for a Modern Physics class, and it is wonderful! The explanations are clear and the problems at the end of the chapters do a good job of helping with the concepts.
I bought it because the price was very tentative. I liked the book eventhough there was only copies.
