I have used several gun rests and this BY FAR is the best one as a single shooter for the following reasons: 1. Being a retired welder I can tell you that Caldwell did not skimp on thin junk metal in making this bench rest. It's built like a brick wall. 2. The design is very well thought out and the functions are what they should be...simple and easy without complicated mechanisms. 3. A 22 rifle will not even budge this unit WITHOUT adding weight to the weight tray. BUT, even when I mounted a 30.06 in didn't hardly move, and when I added a 20 lb sack of lead shot to the tray it had really good shock absorption. 4. And here's the really good part. A lot of stores sell these for $125 and upwards, and I would have paid that, but I got this for a lot less on eBay and it's a fantastic bench rest that does as good or better than a lot of bench rests that are selling for twice or three times more money. So don't waste you money on something that offers more bells and whistles than you need. This bench rest is solid as a rock and shoots the big guns too. It is a well built tool will most definitely still be in service long after I'm gone.Read full review

Would be a 5 star rating , but for one thing, the rore arm rest is not very well made plus the velcro strap either wont go on do to scope or way too short to go around. Otherwise this sled is excellent for its price. I have used the next 2 better models that Caldwell makes and all perform excellent no matter the caliber or recoil. If you are the type of shooter who likes to shoot alot or just need a better stabilization device for fine tune sighting in, then I highly recommend a Caldwell led sled. And for the buck, this little beauty is a great addition to your shooting collection .

I didn't have the weighted bags to put in the tray, so i used ratchet straps across the two front legs. If you try this method, don't strap the back. Use the bags if you can. Even handicapping myself this way, i was able to sight in much easier, ending up with a 2 inch grouping at 100 yards using a .308. This rifle was barely on paper to start and i was zeroed in within 13 rounds. It took 2 boxes of ammo to get it on paper without the lead sled. Between me and my friends, this will get a lot of use!

I got this to go to the range and sight in my rifles. I have not got to the range yet. But I can tell you it is well make very heavy at about 16 lbs. I assembled it and put my rifle in to do a dry run for sighting in at home. It is very easy to level and set the rifle in and level the rifle. I will not get a lot of use out of it because I only have 2 rifles at this time. But I know I have it for when ever I change a scope or get another rifle. This is one Item that will never be a waste of money. Worth every penny. I really like the front Stock adjustment with the strip. That make it easy to level the rifle with the swing arm. Then you can adjust it up or down to line up with you target. Its just so nice and easy.

The Lead Sled by Caldwell is an awesome tool and serves it's intended purpose well. I needed to zero in a couple hard hitting rifles and wanted to protect my shoulder from being pounded. The Lead Sled did that!! It allowed me to line up the scope and take "perfect" shots with the adjustable front legs and cradle. In no time at all and no abide to my shoulder the scopes were spot on!! I wish I had purchased this tool years ago ... I would highly reccomend!
