I've tried every CLP and gun lube out there but nothing that does everything well...…..until Ballistol. It cleans, it lubricates, it protects AND it doesn't dry out and crack my hands. In fact, this stuff is a GREAT skin moisturizer. Here is it the middle of winter and my hands are in perfect condition for a change rather than looking like I've been doin oil changes for a living. The wonder oils would absolutely tear me up after continuous use but the more I use this stuff the better they get. It's VERY effective at removing carbon fouling and will even dissolve copper if you let it soak in the barrel (which is safe to do with Ballistol). It goes on as a liquid but will set like a very very light grease coating which means once you wipe down it won't run out or run off like other CLPs. It stays put but doesn't gum up or harden. Does not stain clothes or leave you hands feeling oily. Also, it leaves not a hint of tackiness to the polymer on my Glocks which most other CLPs which makes me wonder if they are bad for the polymer. There has to be something not spectacular about it right. Of course. The smell when you first apply it. About 1% actually like it while the rest of us would say it could knock over a skunk. Yes, it's a bit much BUT the odor dissipates after a few minutes after applying it. The stuff that makes it stink is also what makes it initially thin coming out of the can, but it does evaporate off quickly and what remains is virtually odorless. I advise trying it if you haven't. Bear with the initial odor (it's worth it) and see if you AND your firearm don't eventually fall in love with it. Read full review

I bought this product because it is supposed to be an old standby for cleaning and maintaining firearms. I'm sure it works well enough in that regard. But the deal breaker for me is the SMELL! It's unlike anything I've every smelled in my life. It's beyond description. What I can report is that (for me) it was INSTANTLY revolting and nauseating. I've worked with a lot of cleaners and solvents over the years and NEVER had any notable reaction to any of them, until encountering Ballistol! Buyer beware!

That said, this stuff is awesome. Based on hickok45's continued use, it's easy to see why he likes ballistol so much. Yes it's expensive but very little is needed to soak a barrel or to lube rails so a bottle can last a very long time. I definitely prefer the aerosol over the non-aerosol and won't be buying that again. I tend to fieldstrip my gun, soak my barrel in ballistol, clean everything else with alcohol, wipe of the barrel and run a boresnake through it, then use ballistol on all lubrication points. Yes it stinks but it's perfectly safe (in a ventilated area) and eco friendly. Use with confidence.

I've been using Ballistol on all of my firearms for over 20 years. It even works wonders on polymer frames and rubber and wood grips. I still use Hoppes for cleaning the barrels and cylinders, but Ballistol is still the final lube before I store them. I always keep Ballistol in my range bag to use when I field strip and clean at the range on extended sessions. Everyone that inspects my firearms is impressed with their function and appearance, and Ballistol has a lot to do with it. I also use Ballistol around the house on squeaky hinges and other things that need lubed. This is a wonderful product.

bought this stuff because i saw someone recomend it on a youtube video. i used it to clean my kel tec p11 that was having some issues straight out of the box. i broke it down and lubricated everything with this stuff and now my gun shoots like dream. i thought it was a little expensive at first but, its no where near the price point as some of the other stuff thats out there plus it works on so much other stuff. i must also say a little goes a long way. it doesn't have the foul odor that i thought it would have with this being a gun cleaner and all. dont get me wrong this stuff does stink but, to me it smells more like smelly feet lol. all in all im very impressed and will be using this product from now on
