Eric Clapton is the guitar master of our time. He has many different styles and anytime he changes, he leaves behind some fans and gains many new ones. This CD is a 'from the heart' rendering and it strikes home, back home, a feeling of soulful bliss. He reaches new levels of soulful, bluesy feelings on this CD. It is not for the fans of great ripping guitar riffs, a la the Cream and early Clapton days. It is for the more sophisticated listener that wants to hear beautiful string sounds strummed to soulful heartfelt lyrics. A must for any true Clapton fan and a must for the Clapton collection as it is part of who he is. You will like this CD more each time you play it.
I bought the CD several months ago and will never get tired of it. I am a tremendous fan of Eric Clapton and have been since the early 70s. Back Home always been one of my favorite albums. It invokes so many memories. I bought the CD because it is always playing every time my friends and I get together for the holidays. Hearing it makes me feel like it is Christmas every day. Absolutely great! I have no complaints about anything concerning the quality of the CD.
At what point in an artists career do they decide "Hey I've rocked enough, what I really need to do now is record an album for the Soft Rock Lite stations ... after all John Tesh and Jim Brickman are making mad bank!" I am not a musician so maybe I just don't understand. I certainly don't understand what Clapton's motivation is here. This is pure unmitigated schlock!! The best song is his cover of Stevie Wonder. After hearing this album of elevator music I am ready to take the stairs. Its hard to put into words why this album sucks. Mostly it is the songs, they are barely musical and as I write this, just 2 hours after listening to the album twice, I am hard pressed to remember even one melody from it. The music is so uninteresting it is stunning! If you like music don't buy this album.Read full review
I got a taste of this album when I was a member of URGE music subscription service.. Clapton has always impressed me with his supreme talent as a guitar player, but his voice has really become a favorite of mine. When Rhapsody took over URGE they locked up 414 songs that I had paid for while a member of URGE. The selections from this album were part of those I lost. I then decided to buy the whole album so I could call it mine. Since then I have discovered other great songs on this album. I was familiar with "One Track Mine", "Run Home To Me", and "One Day"... BUT NOW..."Love Don't Love Nobody" and "Love Comes To Everyone" have become my favs on this album. If you are a Clapton fan this will make a great addition to your collection. They say to be a truly great Blues Singer, you have to pay the price... "Slow Hand" has paid the price and he has become one of the best in the Blues field.. Buy this Album!!!Read full review
A new direction for EC. Not rock, not blues, just great songs. Anyone who has an appreciation for Eric Clapton should love this album. I do. Fantastic new chapter in EC's career.
