A good spring temper on the blade. Doesn't lose shape, and holds a nice edge when sharpened. Lighter than it looks. I can tell this will be a great chopper. My only concern is the pommel. It kinda digs into the hand uncomfortably if you hold it too close to the bottom. This would be especially bad if you had much larger hands. But, as long as I hold it correctly, this isn't a problem. It's an Oakeshot type XIII, if anyone's wondering. Good quality leather on the scabbard and hilt. Ensures a good grip.

Sword rusted immediately after removing from packaging. Was at practice and one side of the blade was rusted completely in an hour. I would not recommend this as anything but a costume piece that never leaves the sheath.
