My New Apple
What can I say? I was smitten with only three pictures. For a laptop that's almost 16 years old, this one is really great. For it to run at only 1.33 Gigahertz, it's actually faster than I expected. The display is perfectly clear and the machine itself is the perfect size. Because of its age, it's not be able to handle all the latest software applications, but it's still worth having. The only thing I have issue with is the fact that the hard drives in these machines are so small. I guess that's not so much of a problem though if you're willing to pay to have a larger one put in or, . . . perhaps just use the machine for something like storing recipes, photos, or things of that nature. Whatever the case, it's still a great machine. If mine should ever die on me, I'd still consider getting another one like it. Read full review

The hacking was worth I now have a nice Machine!
I cant beleave I got this computer for 25 bucks. After a all nighter and several hacks. I have this unit running with Ubuntu 12 for ppc and it works very nicely. Currently I am listening to a nice Jazz station on it and it sounds pretty good. Ubunta for ppc sure brings this old timer back to life. Its a nice compact unit and a a Amatuer radio operator think I will dedicate this worthy computer as a Echolink station. I enjoyed all the reaserch and hacks to get up to speed. The wifi works great! All in all a fun Machine!

Frozen in time and running strong
Undoubtedly a piece of art frozen in time. It's unfortunate that it's no longer upgradeable. It is what it is but the G4 is what computing was meant to be. The Mac PPC was strong stable a fast for it's time. But nine years after it rolled of the line it's just as fast a PC with a 2.5 GHz processor. No modern advances here bit still can run neck and neck with many new computers. The G4 and G5 Mac's were and are one of the greatest computers ever designed and what keeps computing fun

Bottom line, I would rather buy an ibook because it is an awesome product!
If I have to compare between and ibook and an ipad, then the value of my hard-earned money would go further with an ibook. Facts check: 1. You can read CD/DVD on your ibook 2. You have more memory on your ibook 3. Keyboard of full size is included with your ibook purchase 4. You got at least 2 USB slots on ibook 5. Faster processing speed Of course, for something developed back in 2005, weight and battery life of an ibook is nothing to compare with those of the ipads. Clearly, processing speed can be considered a trade-off to compliment for the lack of longer battery life. When I have to compare an ibook with a now "notebook" species, the ibooks offer higher resolution for a better price. Processor speed check: All other companies haven't moved that far away in processor speed yet compared to what Apple invented back in 2005. The actual difference is not even that noticeable when you try to run them. Read full review

Great buy, well worth the money!
I am very pleased with my iBook G4. It looks great, performs quickly, and has an excellent battery life. Startup time is brisk, and all applications open quickly. The battery life is one of the best things about this laptop. Even though it's 6 years old, I still can get 3+ hours out of it. I recently installed OSX 10.5 Leopard on it, and, I was surprised at how great the operating system is. It had Tiger on it before, and both operating systems are quick, easy to use, and well layed out. The trackpad and keyboard are both above average quality, and easily beat out various windows keyboards. The display is very bright, and the speakers are surprisingly powerful for such a small laptop. The only thing I dislike about the iBook is that it can get pretty hot if you're watching videos or playing games for a long time. Overall, it is a great computer that is well worth the money, as you can get these laptops for pretty cheap now. Read full review
