The stock trigger pull on the S&W SD9VE is about 8 lbs which is heavy for many people out there. This brings it down to a good 5 pounds which has made my accuracy much better after a lot of practice. But like everything else you still do need to practice. For 20 bucks this is one of the first upgrades I recommend doing if you own one of these pistols! You definitely wont regret it. And with some patience and some simple tools, installation was a breeze. But if you dont feel like messing with your gun and screwing something up take it to your local gunsmith, I'm sure they wouldnt charge you much to install it since it is very easy to do.

I did the upgrade and too my gun to the range. First, third and fourth pulls were misfires. So, I took the striker spring out and compared it to the original spring. The new striker spring was .25" shorter than the original. Placed the original back in the gun and the trigger pull was very heavy again. I haven't had a chance to shoot it but, I feel its back to the same. So, for me it was a waist of time and money.

I wasn't sure replacing the three springs provided in this kit would make much of a difference in the trigger pull and feel of my S&W SD9VE. But the difference is SIGNIFICANT. Pull is lighter, travel is shorter and reset is shorter. The SD9VE trigger is known to be long and gritty. That makes sense since it is a budget gun. With the replacement springs installed the trigger pull, break, reset and overall feel come close to my S&W M&P 9. I was VERY PLEASANTLY surprised! Totally worth the nineteen bucks I paid. Easy to install, even if you haven't torn a pistol down beyond a basic field strip. Several good instructional videos on YouTube.

I purchased the trigger with it also. But made my pistol like a completely new gun the trigger feels so much better. It’s now about half the pull weight (no scale just feel) I did the install my self using the videos that are on Apex tactical website. Everything went in without any hiccups. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has purchased the S&W Sd9/Sd40 worth every penny. And if your not Knowledgeable any local gun Smith will install it.

Being spoiled by big Colt Single Action Army revolvers and S&W double action revolvers, all with incredibly great triggers. Then I got the S&W SD9VE with an 8.5 pound trigger. Shooting low left became the norm as it was pitifully heavy with a long pull. Got the Apex spring kit to possibly improve things. Took about half an hour, including a coffee break, to remove the factory springs and install the spring kit from Apex. The result was a 4.2 pound trigger pull, and a reduced travel of about 25%. Groups are now centered since I'm no longer pulling the whole pistol off target anymore. Granted, I'm a retired gunsmith from the old school. Striker fire pistols are a different animal from a 1911A1, but I had no difficulty. A new shooter, not being a trained individual, may encounter some difficulty doing the spring swap. If in doubt, please take it to a qualified gunsmith and not your buddy that has no training. And besides, you're supporting your local gunsmith too!Read full review
