I purchased a refurbished model to replace an older Apple Cinema monitor that went out on me. I had seen one on display in a retail store but didn't want to pay full retail price. What attracted me to the monitor was the Bang and Olufsen sound built into the monitor. In the busy store it sounded pretty impressive, but there was a lot of background noise so not a good place to preview sound quality. I also liked the clean minimal looks of the display. On receipt of the monitor I found it quick to set up, and with an hdmi cable a clean connection to my mac mini. The power brick is miniscule compared to the apple brick, and the cables are thinner as well. The sound is carried via a mini stereo jack cable, easily zip tied to the other cables for a neat connection. My first disappointment was with the picture quality. It took several days of fiddling with the picture and color adjustments to get a satisfactory picture. The blacks for text are very dark, but not nearly as crisp as on the Apple display. The colors are also difficult to adjust--the buttons on the underside of the display are very sensitive to motion and are constantly affected by hand movement under the display. The color hues are almost flourescent, with orange especially popping out. When editing photos in iPhoto I am unable to get an accurate rendition of the final print on screen, although I have learned to compensate for the screen image when printing. What you see is definitely not what you get in prints. The second disappointment was in the sound quality of the B&O speakers. Yes, the sound is much better than even most external powered speakers, but is not "deep" enough for satisfactory music reproduction. The volume is not loud enough, perhaps because the speakers are in the back of the monitor and thus bounce off the back wall, but the sound quality is definitely not what I expected. I've returned to my standby external mini amp and bookshelf speaker combination for music playback--increasing the cords on my desktop, but getting much better sound. So why did I give this high ratings? Well, for the cost of a refurbished unit I got a larger screen than my old Cinema display, with a wide screen with lots of room for text and very good movie playback. The color settings are acceptable, although not professional level, and movie and youtube clips are rendered well. The display itself is very attractive--very thin black bezel, sleek silver bar along the bottom, and elliptical adjustable base (although the base is susceptible to vibration and could be sturdier.} At the time I paid less than half the average new price for the refurbished unit, (identical to new and complete in factory wrapping) and considered it a good value. Four months later I see the same price for new units, but isn't that always the case with electronic gear. I have no plans to replace this monitor--will keep it as long as it holds out. Of course, if a working 23" Apple Cinema display should fall into my lap...Read full review
I chose mx239 mainly because of its 23in can accommodate my space, Its good in all aspects. But I think the same section asus mx279 is better. They have a drawback that there may be an angle in the direction of the problem. And I still do not recommend buying them. As the gaming. Their ips really not very good。
