In the Middle Ages, before television or professional sports, there is only one form of competition to separate the men from the boys: jousting tournaments. William Thatcher (Heath Ledger), a poor and humble squire, has always dreamed of proving himself worthy as a knight. When he gets a lucky chance--seeing an opportunity to disguise himself in the identity of a knight--William decides to maintain the illusion for as long as possible. He is aided by his friends Wat, Roland, and Geoffrey Chaucer--a writer with a knack for forging official papers. Under his new title, Sir Ulrich of Liechtenstein, William wins tournaments and receives monetary awards. However, the only way for William to prove himself as truly noble is to beat out all of his enemies, including the arrogant and undefeated Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell), in a series of jousts. Once he does so, William will reveal his his true identity. Writer-director Brian Helgeland creates a unique blend of rousing adventure, comedy, and modern sensibility in A KNIGHT'S TALE, giving a contemporary make-over to the medieval genre with a soundtrack that includes hit songs from Queen, David Bowie, Sly & The Family Stone, and Thin Lizzy.

A Knight's Tale
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's amazingly done. It combines the middle ages with present-day music. It really brightens up the movie. The movie starts with William Thatcher, a poor squire, who has always dreamed of being a knight. When he gets the chance to disguise himself as a knight, he takes it. He decides to maintain his false identity for as long as he can. With the help of his friends Wat, Roland, and Geoffrey Chaucer he is able to pull it off. He creates a new name for himself, Sir Ulrich of Liechtenstein, he wins tournaments and awards. To prove himself truly noble he must beat an arrogant knight Count Adhemar in a series of jousts. We also learn that William's father gave him up in order for William to find a better life. He and his father are able to reunite in the movie. It is quite moving, it makes me cry everytime I see it. The cast is excellent in this movie, the cast includes: Heath Ledger, Paul Bettany, Alan Tudyk, Mark Addy, and Rufus Sewell. This movie is also loosely based on Geoffry Chaucer's book Canterbury Tales. That's where one of the character names comes from. I recommend this movie to anyone.Read full review

Contmpoary age meets age of chivalry!
This movie is a great homage to Heath Ledger's talents! The sense of comedic timing he had, the subtle nuances he was able to show in moments when he had no dialogue are amazng! The ensemble cast is extraordinary & the soundtrack by Queen makes this film a complete assemblage of quality components that comprises the best of the genre! With quotes incluing references to knights who shite themselves to death, to change your stars(decide your own fate), to foxy ladies, to Master Nude & "It's called a lance... Hello!" This film offers a number of scenes that will continue to return to mind & make you want to return to view it often!

Knight with rock and roll
This movie is about the days in which knights were wonderful to have around. Romantic, funny, modern rock and roll music, evil villian, good prince, beautiful princess and a man trying to make something of himself, make this movie worth watching over and over again. This is the very reason I wanted to buy the movie. Good to watch in any mood or with anyone. Even appropriate for kids depending on age and parent supervision to watch as a family.
