Since my usage of focal length on 70-200 f2.8 ii is mostly on 200mm, I purchased this lens after reviewing Flickr, and many other on line reviews. I think this lens is the flagship of Canon engineering when tjey designed with "The Sky is the Limit" in mind. Worth every penny, although expensive, especially for pros and wealthy enthusiasts. The photos are incredible, but it's kind of a pain to carry around with just the flare guard. It comes with a leather "sock" but a lenscap would be pretty nice. It's also pretty heavy. Does come with a shoulder strap, though. My recommendation is that you swing it around your shoulder and use with your second body.

Yes it is. I'm sure others have raved and if you go to the sports photography web site...SportsShooter..they will all tell you this is the best. Canon stopped making them apparently due to the lead required to make the glass. In low light...nothing can beat this lens hands down. Slap a 1.4x extender on it and you have almost a 300mm lens with f2.5. If you can find one in good condition...it is well worth the money.
I bought the lens because I have a son in high school and I take all the team photo's in football, basketball, & track. It works very well in low light conditions and at night on poorly lit football fields. The pictures are simply great. I would recomend this lens to anyone that wants to take great photo's.
