I got this because it is smaller than and can be a slave to my SB800. Works great, and isn’t overloaded with features I won’t use like there are on my SB800. Super powerful, and simple to use. Very user friendly, and I probably would have preferred to learn on this flash as it has a much lower learning curve. Very satisfied with it, and would definitely buy more of these over the SB800 for more reasons than just the price difference.

Flash keeps cycling and going off / flashing by itself without any input from the camera or from pressing the flash button. Tried resetting it multiple times by holding the Mode and Power button for 3 seconds - flash will still keep firing off on its own, then cycle over and vler while batteries get very hot. Does not work with my camera, flash will not sync with the camera at all. Was able to change through the different modes of the flash by pressing the mode button, but flash kept continously firing off on its own. Replaced the batteries three times with new batteries. Still having the same problem. No physical signs of damage on the flash housing, no burn / scorch marks. Flash and case came as pictured in listing.

I use this when taking pictures of birds and other wildlife in daylight where there may be backlighting from the sun or shadows that need to be filled in. I added a Better Beamer fresnel lens extender and am very pleased with the range and flexibility that allows me to take pictures at even the fastest shutter speeds. It never seems to slow me down and often brings out additional detail and colors. The build quality and performance are great. I am using Nimh batteries and am happy with the number of shots and days before requiring recharge. I leave it on standby 24/7 with no problems.

The Nikon SB-600 is the flash you want if you have a Nikon F6 since it will allow high speed sync (FP) on that particular camera. It's also slightly more compact and has a really clear and easy to read scree, more so than the SB-700. If you use CLS, it only works as a "slave" flash and can't control other Nikon flashes.

This speedlight is what I was looking for to increase the quality and use of my Nikon DSLR D5000. It does add weight to the camera but the benefits, properly lighted subjects, greatly out weigh that issue. I appreciate that the item was as described and came with some accessories, which I haven't used professionally yet. I look forward to all the great photos I will take with this speedlight.

This Nikon SB-600 flash is a discontinued model but still offers a lot of capability with current cameras. It is a mid-size flash and has many good features such as an LCD panel and a wide angle drop-down flash panel. I have other Nikon flashes that are larger with more output, but I wanted one that fit more easily into my camera bag. The SB-600 is a great take anywhere flash.

Nice size flash, big enough for good light output, not too heavy to stress hotshoe on camera. Using a diffuser, every picture has been perfectly exposed. I wanted the SB-600 because it also works with my F100 film camera. It also works as a remote flash with my D7000 camera's popup flash.

I purchased this for my son's girlfriend who is a budding photographer. She recently received a Nikon D3300 from my son and I am giving it as Christmas present. I have one and have been very happy with what it does. I am a hobbyist and it serves my needs. I wish that her D3300 offered commander mode so that she could be creative with off camera flash photography. I have it in my ancient Nikon D80 and was very surprised that hers did not have it. I mean c'mon. How expensive would it be for Nikon to offer commander mode in all their DSLR cameras that have a hot shoe....right? I mean open up the doors to creative photography for crying out loud! Anyway, this is not about the camera but about the SB-600. It is a well built powerful flash that really helps to make better photos and especially photographs taken in the dark. Some say it's not powerful enough and that people should consider purchasing a bigger one. It really depends on what they want to do. In the mean time for me, it's great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good flash that can do much more than the basic on -camera flash.Read full review

Accurate lighting for Nikon cameras. Fast recycling and easy on batteries. Takes 4 AA batteries. The bounce feature with the diffuser makes for beautiful portraits. I recommend this flash for all Nikon SLR users.

I have been using Nikon SB-600 Speed Lights for about 4 years now. When I need to use a Speed Light for a project, my favorite is the Nikon SB-600. It works excellent with the Nikon Creative Lighting System. I sometimes will shoot with three of them at one time. It is very simple and fast to program. It has many features and is very powerful. Also, the SB-600 price is very low, usually under $200. Doug Ward Doug Ward Photography, LLC
