This doll was the first holiday doll not in Mattel’s Happy Holiday series collection. Released in 1999 by Mattel to celebrate the upcoming turn of the century, the Millennium Princess Barbie doll, dressed in the greatest fashion, as always, is wearing an opulent, midnight blue velvet ball gown covered in shiny, silver lace cascading down the front panel of the dress and a shimmery, silver organza collar. The Barbie doll is also sporting accessories like a sparkling tiara, earrings, blue shoes, a necklace, and a ring to bring in the new year in style. One Barbie doll also has long, blonde hair that flows down her back, but there is also an African-American edition of these dolls in the collection. Barbie’s brunette friend, Teresa, was also included in the Millennium Princess Barbie dolls. The doll also comes in a collector’s box. For the keepsake collector, these Barbie dolls also come with a faux-crystal ornament marked with a “Happy New Year 2000” ribbon. Even though the year was 2000, this Barbie stayed in tune with Ruth Handler’s original elegant and classic style when she designed the first, now vintage, Barbies in 1959, almost a half of a century before. The 1999 Millennium Princess Barbie doll joined Mattel in January of 1999, and who better to ring in the year 2000 than one of the 20th century’s most iconic dolls? You can keep this Barbie doll in her box as a true collector’s piece, or you can take her out of the box and enjoy hours of play. Mattel designed this collection’s Barbie doll to be a princess, but they’re still the same versatile dolls that you can dress up and accessorize. The midnight blue dress has a back panel made of Velcro that allows you to remove it. You can still dress her in pink; experiment with her fashion, clothes, and outfits; style her hair; have her hang out with Ken or the other girls; and customize and create Barbie’s world. Barbies have long been one of the favorite toys among young girls, but the 1999 Millennium Princess Barbie dolls are a special edition and have a wide appeal that ranges from children to adults. Mattel recommends the doll for ages 10 and up, but children as young as 3 can also own and play with these dolls. This Barbie doll is about 13.7 inches in height, 11.5 inches long, and 4 inches in width thanks to the doll’s ball gown. This Barbie doll also weighs 1.6 pounds.

Millennium Princess 1999 Barbie Doll
1999 Millennium Princess Barbie was the first Holiday doll not in the Happy Holidays series. She was designed to welcome the year 2000 and the new millennium. She is wearing a dark blue velvet gown with center panel of glittering organza and silver lace. She has a silver tiara and an ornament. I always felt this holiday Barbie was a bit understated when compared to the other dolls, even her dark blue and silver box seems understated. Perhaps she is a reflection on the seriousness that was felt when we entered "Y2K". In addition to the Africian American version of Millennium Princess, there is also a Millennium Princess Teresa - Barbie's brunette friend. Teresa is the most limited of the trio. Hallmark Also did a Millennium Princess Christmas ornament in 1999

Product brings back memories
I purchased the Millennium Princess Doll because she was grouped with other dolls that I was shopping for. I am glad she was because I really like her! She is beautiful and brings back memories for me. When the Millennium came, my company was worried what would happen to our computers at midnight and I was paid overtime to go to work and be there in case something happened. I work for a trucking company that is a 24hr/7day operation and computers are crucial. It turned out to be a fun evening for my co-workers and I and I like to think back about it.

Absolutely wonderful, I was thrilled to add this one to my collection.
This doll i think is a one of a kind. I love her dress which is a deep blue she is so elegant and represents the coming of the next century. The ornament which she is holding has the year 2000 on it. A doll that barbie lovers should definetely have in their collection. Whether your a young girl or woman this one is for you. elegance at its finest i think. Thanks to Ebay this doll was made affordable for me. This one i would highly recommend to everyone. Thank you

Beautiful Barbie
I love the color of the dress, details, slip made with tulle. Glitter makes it even more elegant. The jewelry is just as beautiful and so is the crown.

Beautiful, ageless doll
I bought this doll as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old, who loves to collect Barbies. What made this particular Barbie extra special was that it was originally for sale in 1999. Christmas 1999 was my daughter's first Christmas, but since we hadn't adopted her yet at that time, we didn't get to spend her first Christmas together. So when I saw this Barbie for sale on eBay, I knew she'd love to have it in commemoration of her first Christmas. The Millenium Barbie we received was still in its original box and packaging, completely untouched. It is such a gorgeous doll, and our daughter loves it.
