8 voices of pure analog bliss. This has a unique sounds, because it did not use Curtis chips like many of the synths from companies like Sequential and Oberheim at the time. It has many amazing features like a high-pass filter and a sick arpeggiator. This was the Duran Duran synth that Nick Rhodes used in the early 80s. Although it was a Jupiter 4 that made the famous random arpeggiator sound on RIO....the Jupiter 8 has the exact same arpeggiator and can mimic the sound verbatim. Big phat lush pads and power synths can be made on this monster. Think Journey - Separate Ways - which is what they used on the record.

Very nicely done by Roland. Although I've never owned an original Jupiter, a friend of mine did and this one sounds very similar! Really enjoyable to create some very usable patches beyond the presets, but you would need some knowledge on how to make patches on your own; but, experimentation can yield some really nice results. I'm interested in the JX-03 now! Lot's of fun!!

I was skeptical at first simply due to the size of the JP-08, but it packs a punch where it counts. Excellent sound quality and very easy to program. Yes, the sliders and knobs are small, but take your time and you can dial in subtle changes as you configure a patch. Of course, an external controller would be better, but it's manageable as is.

Love this little guy, broad palette of sounds, super versatile. The sliders are a little small, so small movements make big changes, so can be hard to make nuanced control. otherwise very cool

My first synth. It's awesome! Very small and portable, can be used during travels. The sounds are really good, well varied. Very good to do some loops when inspired.
