This funky release from the genre-bending anime series SAMURAI CHAMPLOO includes all 26 episodes of the show from the creator of COWBOY BEBOP, following the story of an unlikely trio of misfits, who set off on a quest wandering the wilds of Feudal Japan on a quest to find a mysterious samurai - all interwoven with a decidedly modern sense of humor, and a recurring hip-hop theme.
Perhaps not, but this offering comes pretty damn close. Watanabe doesn't disappoint. I was doubtful regarding the concept suggested to me of the soundtrack, but upon hearing it for the first time those fears were put to rest. The hip-hop flavor of the musical cues hits the spot. The character development is also satisfying, though this is the area were it fails to live up to Bebop, but just slightly. Bottom line this is great series animation story telling, and one of my new favorites. The artistry is superb.
Great show with entertaining characters. The Lo-fi music in the show is a nice. Fights scenes are really well done. Blu-ray looks a little better than the streamed version.
One of the best! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. The soundtrack alone is a good enough reason to watch, but even anime first timers will fall in love with the characters, settings and stories.
though I am more as purest when it comes to the take on samurai this cool soundtrack and animation really makes it a cool watch but with a modernized twist!!!
This anime really lacked action which I feel was the way it was marketed to me. It's more of a horror/ psychological drama. I thought it was slow paced & boring.
