I used to have 2nd generation shuffle 2 years ago and I was fully satisfied, but then I give it to my ex... I often doing sports so I need something small like this one. I belive in high quality of Apple so I decided to buy 4th generation shuffle. I thought that it good that it is smaller, but when I start to use it I realised that because of it's small size it become more difficult for me to attach it on my close without changing a track :( I know that I can block the buttons but if I do it during my run I also can change a track and usualy it happens in a favorite place :) And I think that sound quality is not so good as it was on 2nd generation. May be I'm wrong but I think so. Also I still don't understand how to make playlist with tracks and podcasts. I can listen only tracks if I download them on ipod and if I want to listen to podcasts I have to remove all tracks and then download podcasts. All other things are perfect! Battery life 5 stars. Size and weight 5 stars. Length of headphones wire - perfect!Read full review
Best thing since sliced bread. I have a passion for audio books. I get the cd's from my local library and upload them to my Apple ipod shuffle. Everything works flawlessly. The device is small enough to lose easily if you do not keep a close eye on it. Thus it travels in my change pocket easily. It is made of metal and is extremely durable. I have a hearing loss due to many years of loud machinery and wear hearing aids. This device punches out a lot of volume, so much so that I need only slightly over half volume to say it is loud. The voice over feature is simply magic. No longer must you peer into small screens to find what you wish to listen to, the device talks to you and announces the name and track of what is playing with just the touch of a button. When you fast forward or back up it will tell you each and every item so you stop where you want to. This feature is especially important if you are listening before you go to sleep as you can change tracks or play lists without the need to even open your eyes. What luxury! Battery life will last an entire day of listening with a single charge. I enjoyed my first unit so much I could not wait to get my wife one also. She is not a technical person what so ever, and likes the simplicity of one switch to turn it on and it begins playing. Press the center button and it will pause, press it again and it will resume. Shut off the device with the switch, and when you switch it on again it resumes the book right where you left off. Absolutely perfect engineering, flawless performance, a delight to use.Read full review
Simple controls for an autistic to understand and use, but not be able to erase tunes or otherwise render it unusable. This is the ONLY reason I keep buying them. Batteries really are the achilles heel. Batteries are replaceable only through Apple. Of 8 I've bought in the last 2 years, only 2 are still in service including the one I bought this week. First one died in 4 weeks, and its replacement lasted 5 months. Most recent failure lasted 7 weeks. Battery goes kaputt and it won't recharge. Apple has been good on replacing them, but no replacement has lasted more than 5 months. I believe a $19.00 price would be more reasonable, due to its position in product life cycle and battery failures.
Straight from the package, this iPod was ready to go. It's easy to use, easy to synch and a great value. This was my first foray into the world of iPod, and I think it's a good product for people who don't need the bells and whistles of it's larger, more involved brethren or their much larger price. I just wanted a cheap, convenient way to get the music from my iMac to my treadmill without bluetooth speakers, airport and a bunch of nonsense, and this fit the bill to a T. While I generally don't find much use for the voiceover function, it's fairly unobtrusive and easy to use when wanted. The 2GB size allows enough music for 24 hours of nonstop, non repeating play. The battery life is really pretty good, especially considering the whole product is the size of an Andes mint. The product seems pretty durable. The clip on the back is a little more difficult to manipulate than I expected. The entire device is so small, it's hard to find leverage to hold it open and clip it onto something without three hands, but I am also gifted with clumsy mutton hands, so take that for what it's worth. Would buy again, would recommend to others.Read full review
This is a great music player for the person looking for simplicity in terms of technology. You don't need to be "connected" to the internet all hours of the day to enjoy customized entertainment experiences. All I wanted was a small device that holds many songs out of my collection to use while working out, walking, relaxing or whatever. This device delivers for a low price point while I picked this iPod shuffle on a bargain of $35. If you know what you're getting you will be pleased! If you're expecting the world in your hands, look elsewhere! Enjoy!
