Of course it's one of those things you get because fan boy mode kicked in extra hard, but overall it's more lush sounding compared to the boss CE-5, if your going to use this pedal use it in stereo, that's where it shines like no other, using it in mono yeah, It'll do what you want but sheesh in stereo... if you're going to emulate the wylde man, turn down the rate and depth, as his settings are kind of harsh but outside of that, you can go from subtle coloration for cleans to Metallica/Nirvana type choruses, if Zakk ain't your guy, or you don't like the finish get the other analog chorus, as they're the same thing, but don't let that chase you away from a perfectly great versatile little pedal

Very usable .. great bucket brigade circuit .. works nicely with dirt .. not the cleanest chorus but thats probably not why you would get this particular one .. perfect for dirty rythem or lead .. good addition to the pedal board ...

I bought this because I am changing over from midi and a rack mount effects unit to a pedal board. I heard some positive things about this chorus. One of the things I like about it, is that it can be fairly mild or pretty radical as far as chorus goes. It is almost Flanger like on the more radical settings. I like how you can adjust the high and low frequencies independently and it has a good level control. It works really well with clean sounds. I know Zakk plays it distorted too. I'm not completely sold on how it sounds with full on distortion. I have it set on fairly broad range - more radical setting. I want chorus, but I like how it will almost do a flanger sound - which in my opinion, doesn't sound quite as good distorted. But I really like how it works on clean settings. Good, versatile, chorus, good build quality and feels solid. True bi pass. It was a very good price. I'm using it on the front end (not in the effects loop) of my amp - Marshall JVM 210 head. It's not quite as nice as rack mount chorus, but it's good. I'm keeping it. An update since I wrote this 3 years ago. Liked the chorus, but got a wild hair to check out the tone print chorus, by TC Electronics. Sold the Black Label chorus and used the TC for about a year... and hated it. Sold the TC and went back to the MXR Black Label Chorus. Love it. Sounds great and with the separate bass and Treble control, you can really dial in the sound you want. It's been on my pedal board for about 1-2 years since I got it again and it is not going anywhere. Great pedal!Read full review

Needed a chorus pedal for my set up and after searching for a bit I decided to get this one. It is built very sturdy and is very versatile. The effects can go from light and subtle to insanely Wylde! Good quality stomp box that you really can’t go wrong with. Just what I needed in my live gig rig effects pedal board.

I mainly use this pedal for songs that calls for a little coloration but not too overbearing. Better for distortion settings than the clean compared to other chorus pedals, though you can get an 80's type chorus tone out of it.
I give 5 stars for the anologe quality of natural sound unlike Digital chorus pedals. That said it is not embued with crispy highs at all but if you have a brite amp your good to go with this pedal. I would use a EQ pedal perhaps to bring out more ring tones . This pedal takes Overdrive naturally without any bad textures. Stereo output with 2 amps is fabulous to hear. The wet or dry chourus amount is controled by the level knob. The bucket brigade pedals do sound more natural tones as a guitar should without the odd digital sounding effects. This pedal sounds like your guitar should !
This pedal will add some shimmery flavor to your Chords and Solos. The MXR ZW-38 is on the money and has the ZAKK WYLDE vibe written all over it. You can also Tweak the ZW-38 to your liking to personalized your own sound.

I bought this product because I enjoyed Zakk Wylde's chorus sound and also because it is analog. I've had several Boss chorus pedals die on me so I felt it was time to try a different brand without breaking the $100 barrier. This is what I like about the product -Warm sounding -Unit is built like a tank but is small and light -Stereo outputs -Looks awesome -Under $100 -Versatile (use it for clean tones, thickening up distorted tone, crazy effects, etc) My only dislike is that it can take a while to dial in the sound you are looking for but that is in part due to it's versatility. I can compare this to Boss chorus pedals and say that it sounds way warmer than anything they offer.
Analog at its best!! A great sounding chorus pedal. I have tried several different ones, and it came down to the MXR. I liked this better than the MXR Micro Chorus. Even though not to much different in price, and the same size, the control options are great to have. I would definitely spend a few more bucks to have the controls so you can tweak it. Built like a tank and nice and small for any pedalboard. All around a great buy in my opinion.
I actually baught this pedal "blindly" I was looking at other chorus pedals with alot more interest but most of them near the price range lacked the controls this one has. It is a ZAKK WYLDE chorus but, this IS the chorus pedal to have. I am NOT at all disappointed with this pedal. We all know many chorus pedals tend to be shiny-or TOO shiny/bright- but this one... TADAH has a high Cut or Boost & a Low Cut or Boost. This is a great pedal, go for it. Wether your a Metal-head, a Grunge-follower, a yellow-mellow player xD, this is the chorus pedal you want.
