Just remove the little silicone caps that cover the tips of the connectors before inserting into your devices. They snap right in and you're good to go. And after using a rather unwieldy, thick optical cable on my TV for a while I appreciate hiw thin this is. Sounds great, too!

Cable not worth the time, effort or money.
Do not know if the cable performs at all, would not insert completely in the port on the back of my computer. Tried to force it until the port looked like it would break if I pushed any harder. There are 2 small nubs on the cable to hold it in place once inserted, I chose not to shave those nubs off to make it fit into the audio port. I do not believe this cable to be a good value and will not send it back because the price was less hassle than returning it.

Great Alternative Solution for Connecting Old to New Audio Equipment
This product is resistant to outside interference and delivers crisp, clean, quality sound! Although HDMI (one cable handling digital audio and video signals) has overshadowed this item, it delivers excellent audio. It has enabled me to connect a high quality, older home theater receiver to a newer HDTV. The receiver has an optical input, but doesn't have an HDMI port, so this product is a perfect solution for me. It's fairly easy to connect. Once you match the shape of the cable with the connection, it snaps securely into place. Just be sure to remove the small, clear plastic protective end caps from new cables before you attempt to connect. Considering the results I am experiencing, I would expect this cable to be more expensive, but it's a great bargain. I highly recommend the purchase of this product if it meets your needs.
