I don't write reviews, but I want write one for this product. I brought this to give to a friend that broke her heafing aid and could not aford to replace or get them fixed. So I gave this to her as a gift and she loved the pocketalker. It changed her life. She is now able to be part of conversations. You can see how happy she is. Loved ones are willing to pay any amount of money to see that smile when you help a loved one to hear. This product was alot less money then buying or getting her hearing aid fixed. Works great, but could use noise reduction to be even better.
Pros: Plenty of Volume (more than I need), and much better than other units I tried. Does amplify smaller sounds even furnace blower noises. Cons: Not much noise reduction when in a large room like a Church with AC blower on. When Church blower is off it works great in that environment, but the blower makes it harder to hear voices clearly. Other reviews elsewhere recommended different headphones and microphone and then it would be great. I am using some Koss Stealth Earbuds that sound louder and better than earbud enclosed. I also bought an Olympus ME52W Mic and different pitch and little improvement. The original mic works well, but wish it was directional. Bottom line I wanted something with greater volume range and this does it. Works great in closer environment. Just wish it had noise reduction options.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Doubles hearing aid utility!
Own 2 now, in case I want one in 2 places! Works great, especially in resaurants and noisy places. I set it to half volume and put it table-central... minimizes background noise and emphasizes immediate speakers (omni-mic). I also have a directional mic to aim at the stage in theaters without a loop or FM. Great tool for the hearing impaired
This is a great tool to use while I wait for the Cochlear Implant I need. My regular hearing aids wouldn't work but this allows me to hear enough sound so along with lip reading I can talk to people. Without any sound at all it was impossible for me to read lips and carry on a conversation.
