This game is... Just awful. I mean, it's as good as any other PS1 Army Men game (for better or worse, mostly worse), but it has this weird, totally botched gimmick. The player, at the beginning of every level, chooses two characters from, like... A selection of four or six or something like that. They have dramatically different pictures, but in-game look exactly the same. Not sure why a green soldier needs to wear a green ski mask. At least he looks like a normal helmet guy in-game. Anyway, the player gets these two guys and ONLY these two guys, but he can only control one at a time. While he controls one guy, the other guy... DOES NOTHING! Even if an enemy walks in front of the other guy, he won't shoot them or move or do anything. The game was obviously designed for two-player co-op. With two players, the whole thing about choosing two guys and only controlling one at a time makes perfect sense. Why would they make a game where you get two guys, can only control one, and the one not being controlled does nothing at all? BUT THERE IS NO CO-OP! You heard me! The two player mode is the typical stuff for the Army Men World War games on the PS1. I always liked how, despite their games being overall crappy, 3DO would always make the multiplayers (mostly) for their PS1 Army Men games involve friendly AI-controlled soldiers and whatnot, which is cool since even the single player doesn't have friendly AI-controlled soldiers. Anyway this game sucks because there just aren't enough teammates (like always) and the player is expected to control two people at seperate times, but his uncontrolled characters won't control themselves.Read full review
I purchased this game for my boys. They had one in the past, played the game, beat the game and then sold it. They loved the game so much that they wanted it again so I found one on Ebay and got it for them.
