This CPU still holds its own against many of the i3 and i5 CPUs being sold today. At 2.83 GHz / 6 MB / 1333 FSB, it works well with current operating systems and uses a max of 65 watts. It gets a Sub-score of 7.3 on a scale to 7.9, in the "Windows User Experience Index." An i3 4330 gets a sub-score of 7.3 as well and uses up to 57 watts. So very little difference in performance or power use but a big difference in price.
Along with an SSD, this processor brought new life to an old machine. We'll get another 4+ useable years out of a computer that, otherwise, we would have donated or recycled.

If you have an older core 2 duo system sitting around that’s capable of 8GB of ram and a cheap video card, adding this Core 2 Quad will really pep up an old system in no time. Drop it in. Restart twice and good to go.

Had an old system that just needed a little boost, bought this processor and the computer is like new, the speed it night and day. Upgrading from a core 2 duo 2.0 to the quad was a good investment
Really nice jump in performance for an older 775 socket machine (Puts it in the domain of the middle of the i5 pack in performance). Keep in mind, however, that this will NOT work in the older 775 motherboards. You need a modern machine that was designed with the Core2 processor in mind- or it won't even POST.
I used it to replace a core 2 duo. The gain in speed is significant for heavy operations. The Q9505S (must have the S!) uses a 45 nm die that makes it run cooler and use a lower voltage and less power. Check with the recommended CPU list of your motherboard to make sure that it is compatible with this CPU. If it is, don't hesitate, this is one of the best of the Core 2 quad versions.
