Heating element gets too hot. Rice boils over and as a bonus leaves you with a layer of overcooked discolored (burnt) rice. Great news, onwers manual says if you dont like the overcooked rice on the bottom, you can SIMPLY throw it away. I threw it away alright, now I'm back to cooking rice in a sauce pan.

Nice cooker
Wore out my last cooker and was worried about the aluminum pot not being safe. This one is very well made, has an aluminum pot but has a ceramic coating. What little rice sticks is easily washed without scrubbing. It handles 2 cups of rice to 4 cups water and comes out perfect. Very little water from steam left on counter surface. Anxious to use the steamer while rice cooks. Very good value for this quality.

I love it I can't believe I did not have one before. Small handy, you don't have to use other pan to make rice, it cooks in 15-18 minutes the perfect rice.I have also tried to steam veggies to perfection. I highly recommend it to everybody; households, single person, college student.
