When I received these, I was a little wary of a device that only has a button on the side. However, the directions on the setup card were easy to follow and I had both outlet switches set up on my network in less than 10 minutes. the only thing left was to open a Casaa account (the software that TP-Link uses to manage their smart devices). Once I created the account and added the switches, the only thing left was to open Google Home and synchronize the devices so that I could use voice commands to turn off and on. TP-Link has been a company that I have trusted for years for their routers, switches, and network extenders. They have a solid reputation and back their products. I highly recommend these devices if you are interested in starting a home automation project.

Now that the plug is installed and set up, it is working as expected. I first tried to get it connected using my "Smart Life" app which I use for my other wifi connected devices, but I could not get it to work. Have not tried it yet through Google Assistant. I eventually downloaded the Kasa app, created an account and was able to install/manage through that app, which is recommended in the instructions. I would have preferred not to use a separate app, but it is working. I would recommend this product as long as you are OK with using the Kasa app.

Not the easiest to set up. TP Link's Kasa app doesn't recognize ID & password on iPad but does on Android cell. Go figure. Kasa could be better. Clicked on the Kasa prompt to send password reset info to my email, no email received. The pressure is on Kasa to get their setup easier with the release of Amazon's new smart plug. Amazon version is a plug in, open Alexa app, start using. Plus no smart home hub required. So for about $5 more there may not be any more setup hassle.

This Smart Plug works well, including with voice commands with Google Assistant. The associated Kasa Android APP is also very good. I also have the Smart dimmer switch from the same maker and give it high marks as well.

You could spend $8 to $10 dollars for the old style set the pins light timer. But this wi-fi plug is well worth the price and easy to set-up. It can be used with just your smart phone and an app, nothing else. You can turn on a lamp, Christmas lights or a coffee pot with your cell phone from any place. They also have a 2 year warranty.

Don't waste your time, and money with the cheaper Chinese smart plugs/bulbs that are a pain in the rear to set up, as TP-Link Kasa is one of the easiest smart plug/light system i've the pleasure of using. It's easy as downloading the Kasa app for your phone, making a TP-Link account if you don't have one, plugging in the mini outlet, and following the steps to add it to your 2.4Ghz WiFi network. Then go into your smart assistant of choice, and add them to your home setup. One thing to note if you have a newer WiFi 6 TP-Link router, make sure to use your guest network for the WiFi, and have it set to broadcast 2.4Ghz only, or the Kasa plugs, and bulbs will not be able to connect, as they are not yet WiFi 6, and they get confused with the same SSID broadcasting 2.4Ghz, and 5Ghz at the same time. The wife and I both travel very often for our jobs. Either one of us while away can modify the lighting in our home to make it look as if someone is home. I like to turn off lights in livingroom and move to hallway, turn on light in hallway, then move to bedroom/bathroom and turn on lights there. If you were parked outside casing our home you would never guess no one is home. I sometimes do this from as far away as Southeast Asia/China. The wife likes to turn lights on and off in our second floor and basement. As long as you have WiFi connection it works. The come in several configurations and for my money they are great.

These little devices are great for lights, fans, even my 8000 BTU window air conditioner. Anything you'd like to have on a timer or just a remote on/off this is the ticket. I have never tried scenes, etc, but the schedule and the basic functionalty is top notch.

I bought a TP link plug and a Wemo at approximately the same time Both work good if you use their app but I wanted to use a Google home mini. The wemo is very inconsistent, it stops working with mini frequently The tp link has yet to fail.It also responds faster.(If you have Norton on your phone make sure it is not set as your browser. It will not connect to Tp or wemo wi fi as it considers them unsecure)
