The E3300 with its true dual core on die and 2.5Ghz is a great CPU for a low price. Why would you pay more for a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo? Look at the benchmarks, the E3300 blows many higher price CPU's away. The E3300 has a PassMark CPU mark (higher is better) of 1679. Intel's Core Duo E4400 @ 2.00GHz the CPU mark is 1168 and the Core2 Duo T2500@ 2.00GHz score is 952 . I through in the T2500 even though it is a socket 478 so you could see that marketing names do not = speed. Don't get me wrong the E3300 does not come close to the high end Intel Core2 Deo's like the Extreme @ 2.26GHz with a mark of 3334. Please do your home work before paying 2X the price for a slower CPU. Bottom line, great bang for the buck. source material www.cpubenchmark.net
This cpu is about the best bang for the buck you can currently expect. Although this thing is likely to scare many computers into shutting down. When it reports that it at a temperature over boiling. That my motherboard tells me, and I used the best arctic compound, and a heatpipe cooler with big fan. None of which are hot or even warm to the touch. Now soft gives mixed results, cpu will be over 100c yet each core will be around 30-40s. It's a great overclocker though.
I bought this processor, because it was benchmarked very highly on cpubenchmark.net. The processor is surprisingly fast and efficient and it is extremely cheap as well. This processor runs anything that I go to run without any type of delays. I haven't tried overclocking it yet, but I plan to see what I could put its limits to.
Never cared about the older celeron processors before. They were slow (that's an understatement) very little cache, just didn't perform. Read reports about the Dual-core E3300 that caught my eye. Didn't think I could go wrong with the price after what I read about it. I was pleasantly surprised, the cpu does a great job. I wouldn't hesitate buying another. It is in a windows 7 ultimate 64 bit OS.
Super Cheap, built on the wolfdale architecture they make the new C2Ds with, and performs only slightly lower. Forget what you though about Celerons, this is a good performing cpu for the price. Came with cooling that was a bit hard to install though.
