After reading reviews about this receiver I decided to give it a try. Am disappointed with it so far. It is not as easy to set up as has been suggested. First off, if you can't get it to display on your television, it is very hard to follow the next steps. Finally got it to perform in a somewhat reasonable manner, but with difficulty in syncing with the cable and tv controls. Now it is canceling out the picture on the television and will only allow the picture back after you shut down the entire systems. Maybe it is because it is a refurbished unit. I was suspicious when I found the original operators manual with this unit and it had tech supports telephone number hand written on the inside cover. I will never buy another refurb unit again. What I saved in money, I have more then spent in aggravation. I suspect that this unit was never tested thoroughly, just quickly cleaned up and sent back out for sale. Not Happy.Read full review
Well, I own this identical model and the board very recently went out. I thought I might go online to either price this unit used or find the number to Harmon Kardon as I did not want to go searching through my mess of papers to find receipts and such. I see the unit and scroll down to read the reviews and one particular catches my eye. If, when a board goes out, one gets a blank, appearing as if no power display, then the last review I read is exactly what I experienced two weeks ago. All was working fine and then the receiver shut off or perhaps the board burned out and nothing. Sorry to whomever is selling this unit. But, too strange of a coincident for this to be a random occurrence. Come on, Harmon Kardon. If this is the kind of business and comments you wish to have by your customers, then keep making your defective junk. When your company takes a nose dive. You have your answers. Disappointed. You used to be my favorite audio receiver maker. My three other Denon receivers and ancient Yamaha all all still working and sounding as good as new.Read full review

I'm running a Klipsch Quintet III and Sub-10, 7.1 setup and the sound is outstanding, as one would expect from an HK product. I have a 20x15 living room and the system is more then enough to fill the room. Overall the setup was pretty easy, once I determined that I had a bad HDMI cable, and was able to use the on-screen setup menu. I really liked the easyEQ and being able to rename the source names. There are a lot of options on the receiver and even though I'm a "techie" it was a little overwhelming. My one complaint would have to be the manual. There are very few illustrations to assist with the connections and the features could really have some more detail. I would also like to have some additional eq options as it only has bass and treble. Overall, an excellent product and I hope to get as many years out of it as I did my previous HK AVR.Read full review
I'm very happy with my new receiver, I've had other HK receivers so I'm familiar with the set-up.I got the unit ahead of schedule so I was happy about that so.
