This is an amazing sound card that you can ever have. First, it matched my Senheisser HD 600 beautifully. It really bring this excellent phones to the maximum sound quality. Second, you have all the output flexibility to all your audio outputs. It can be directed to your stereo amplifier for Hi-Fi setup. It also can be connected to your receiver for Home Teather experience. Third, the Dolby processor is really sound natural. Fourth,it can accept line in from your tuner/ ipod or you can put microphone for karaoke use. To summon up, it really bang for the BUCK! In terms of sound quality, flexibility, and versatility for this sound card. Highly recommended!
Actually I've been looking for such a product like this that should satisfied me and makes me happy with the better sound when listening music and see great movies with Dolby and DTS sound. I invested a lot time and money in purchasing various DACs and sound cards so far to find the better ones with easy to use, apply with other devices and convenient to set up to enjoy the music and the movies. This is the best one for me to meet these requirements, I believe. Of course I'll not stop my efforts in finding the better one in the future. However, this is the best one ever I heard various sound devices. Thank you ASUS!!
Many will say that sound cards these days are overrated and not necessary. This could not be further from the truth. The amount of extra details that can be heard is just astonishing when this card is matched up with an equally good set of headphones. I was not expecting much, but I was absolutely blown away when listening to music on this card for the first thing.

It's like having a high-end dac and a transport on a sound card! Works well as a transport with my raindrophui 4 x TDA1541 + HDAM output. Out of last few sound cards I owned this is by far the best sounding sound card I owned. My only complaint is it does not have the flexibility as the EMU 0404 in sound customization but it's just a personal preference and wont be missed because the sound quality of the Asus Xonar Essence is superb as a dac or transport. Previous sound cards I owned are the Sound blaster Awe 64 Gold, EMU 0404 Died and so many other cards I can't remember.
