This processor is pretty old as of the time of this review (2/5/20), but according to the motherboard spec for the HP Pavilion a1767c Media Center, is the highest performance processor available. It was used to replace the Intel Core2 Duo E4300 that was originally installed. This upgrade increases clock speed from 1.8GHz to 2.66GHz, L2 cache from 2MB to 4MB, and bus speed from 800MHz to 1066MHz. I didn't do any formal testing, but the "seat of the pants" feel is an overall improvement in performance, for me, most noticeable in video streaming.

This was the best CPU for the HP Compaq DC5700 Microtower. Upgraded from a E6400 2.13 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache. The additional 500 - 600 GHz clock speeds make a huge difference and with the 4 MB L2 cache, Windows 10 runs stable with 8 GB and a dedicated PCI (NOT EXPRESS) GPU. Video streaming over Plex, Utube or Netflix runs smooth.

This E6700 cpu is very fast compared to Pentium D 925, easy to mild overclock on air easy 3.0 clock!! very good buy IMHO!

I upgraded my original chip to this one, the highest possible to fit my old machine. The pc booted without a problem and the CPU gage registers less over load, comparing to my old 2.13 GB CPU.

If you still have a Pentium chip in your PC or a lower end duo core (or dual core) CPU then an upgrade is long overdue and you likely already know this. This seller provides an affordable approach to upgrading that won't take a huge byte out of your wallet. I put this in my daughter's old Dell PC and she is delighted with the difference in speed and performance. She can play most of her computer games now and research the net with ease at the same time. In other words multi-tasking is possible once again! I don't recommend using the thermal compound that comes with it unless this is all you have on hand. Still it is very thoughtful of the seller to include a package of compound with the chip and it will work in a pinch. Why dole out hundreds of dollars for an upgrade when a chip like this and an SSD can give your PC performance that matches that of a brand new computer?Read full review

Not the latest processor, but a known upgrade to an old desktop. Easy installation and useful improvement. Widely available to max out some early socket 775 applications. Inexpensive.

Got a Vista computer system for $10 at a yard sale. Tower, 22' monitor, mouse, keyboard and cables. After installing this CPU it is running Windows 10 64 bit. W10 would not even install with the stock CPU. The computer runs faster and cooler too. A worthwhile upgrade for a old computer. Now I got a computer for the shop.

I had E6300 CPU on DG965RY board. So decide to upgrade it to the fastest available E6700 Everything went smooth, no problem. I didn't make any BIOS changes or so. Windows recognize CPU change and update drivers itself . Looks like it running faster now by 30-40%..Thermal paste was needed.

Came with some old paste on it. Just cleaned off and installed it into my dell 745 along with some fresh arctic silver paste. Computer booted up fine. Only test I've tried was watching youtube videos on high quality, Result was that videos streamed smoothly unlike with the previous cpu which was a pentium D. Good upgrade for a small price.

Great upgrade for old computer. Made a difference over the original processor that was installed. This one was the maximum processor that was available for the socket and chipset that i had.
