I bought this to upgrade a Compaq system that had a Sempron processor in it. I was glad I had read up thoroughly on replacing a processor, as I ran into several issues that were described there, e.g. the old thermal grease acted like glue and as a result the heat sink came off with difficulty. But I plugged this in, cleared the CMOS, and this came up and ran like a charm. The biggest reason I replaced the CPU was because of poor performance on my TV tuner card, and this solved that problem very nicely. The AMD support download web site was a little flaky, but I was eventually able to download the latest CPU drivers from there, plus there are other sites that have them too. All in all very happy with the investment.
I purchased this item to upgrade an old cpu that my computer had. I wanted to increase the speed and so I purchased this item. I like the fact that this item did what I expected. It made my computer run a lot faster than it was. When I compared it to the other cpu I could notice the change in speed and performance.

1st of all its the top cpu for amd s754 desktop. 2nd no way to find it in Greece and the price is ok if you dont want 2 spend 250euros for am3+ mobo + cpu + memory + pci instead agp its the best choice. Includind my 2gb mem radeon x1650 pro and i have a small rocket now. A the multiplier is unlocked and 12x sooo... go for oc very easy.Anyway my opinion newcastle better than clawhammer 55/45.
