it was a cpu upgrade
i purchased one of the hp compaq elite 8300 cmt computers here on ebay and then upgraded the processor from an i5 to an i7. 1155 lga easy no pins to bend on the cpu. just pop open the socket and replace the cpu and close the socket. 3.2 ghz to 3.4 ghz really easy to upgrade. and this was a resonable price range cpu. it works. ive had no problem with it.

Quick and easy replacement
This was a major upgrade on HP Compaq 6300 Pro SFF that came with Pentium G640. Simple and easy install so also results are very quick. I used Artick MX5 thermal paste, even without fan on temperature didn't go beyond 54C and with fan at controlled speeds it ran at between 26C and 31C. I wanted to disconnect fan from .otherboard so did try to measure and results are good with this processor.

You really feel the difference! I changed the processor that I had, which was an i5-3470, for this one and in daily tasks and in heavy tasks such as gaming, video editing and more. The extra threads are noticeable. Since the pc goes so much faster. So far, I haven't had any problems. Definitely a recommended upgrade!

Make sure you know your way around a motherboard before installing!
The piece arrived as was described. Installation was difficult only because I hadn't torn down my the specific type of cooler for the cpu before, and that is because of my experience rather than the actual item. After getting the chip into the socket, and putting everything back together, everything worked like a charm!

i7 Processor upgrades are worth a look!
I took a recycle PC and replaced it's i5 processor with this i7 processor which was a solid 35% faster and it really helped. After throwing in a 2GB GT 1030 video card and 16GB of ram this low cost setup for my living room is working as well as some of the newer i5's coming out today.

Greatest CPU Ever Made!
The Ivy Bridge i7 family of CPU's are one of the best CPUs ever produced! This CPU still performs like no other and if your on a budget or want to build a budget gaming rig or workstation this the best you can get for sure! With a good GPU this will run any AAA title you want to play or if you have a small business etc this is perfect for virtual machines! Even without the K sku this CPU will easily OC to 4.2ghz and up to 4.5ghz with some fine tuning, I have mine running at a 4.2ghz daily OC and its stable as can be! This CPU came out almost 10 years ago but still performs as well as an AMD Ryzen 5 1600!
