Although long-since discontinued, this Sony portable DVD does a fine job. The image is clear and smooth, thanks to the 800x480 resolution on a 9" (diagonal) display. The speakers, being small, are just general purpose. Headphones are the preferred audio output, and there are two headphone jacks. The DVD-FX930 battery easily powers a 2-hour DVD with power to spare. The battery pack snaps on and off, requiring no tools. The remote control (RMT-D191) is very handy. There are A/V connectors for external connections. Blu-ray are not supported. CDs are supported.

I think the quality of this refurbished unit is very good!! The quality of the picture, and particularly the sound is excellent. I have had other players before, but always experienced problem with the playback with many of the DVD's. I have played 50 or so DVD with no playback issues. Also, the battery life far exceeds any other player I have had in the past. It would venture to say that the battery has a life on a single charge of a minimum of 3 hours!! The only negative I can say is that it is meat and potatoes model with very few extra features-ie. no offer of various aspects for example.
I bought this DVD player specifically for a long car ride that was necessary to move from Florida to Georgia. I like the screen size, the most. The 9 inch display is definitely a plus for some SpongeBob SquarePants action in the back seat. Not very much to dislike about this player, considering it's low cost and extra long battery life. Following the move, I was required to go on a business trip and took it along with me on a flight from Georgia to California. I literally had it on from the time the flight attendant "OK'ed" electronic devices till it was time to shut them down again, there and back. I totally forgot to charge it while I was there for a week. The battery never died on the flight home, even though I feared it might. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.
This DVP works very well including being able to plug in two sets of headphones and actually hear both of them. The buttons are hard to use with your fingers because the screen is in the way but the remote works well and gives me more control of the machine when grandsons are watching in the back seats and are arguing over which to play next or when traffic gets very busy. The large size makes it difficult to find a case/cover to protect it but I use a laptop sleve for 10" laptops. Mine has a pocket for the remote and the headphones. The car charger rides around in the console with all the other chargers. Overall I am very happy with this DVP, especially its sound.
I initially purchased this DVD player in 2009 to take on a trip to China. It kept us occupied when we had time to kill at airports, a long bus ride, or a free evening after a tiring day when we just wanted to kick back and relax ~ we also became real popular with our fellow travelers' kids. It's easy to use and the image quality is good... unless you are in the sun. This product still gets use almost daily by someone in the household; everything still works but I happened to see this unused FX930 on Ebay. Since this product is no longer available in stores and nothing lasts forever, I decided to pick up another one. :)

I can't say enough about how great all the features on this dvd player are! I love the 180 degree swivel screen, 6 hr battery life, small design, clear picture and countless uses. We have hooked it up to our large flat screen, our projector, used it w/ the car charger for road trips & on a 4.5 hr plane ride. I'm so glad I decided to purchase this model & would very highly recommend it.
The greatest feature for me on this product is that the screen can be swiveled around 180 degrees and allows me to Velcro the unit to the dash board on my car for a cheaper navigation system using a laptop and a cheap usb gps device to the laptop computer, the video out going to the Sony monitor. I do field service for televisions and need the computer for that operation so in my older car this was the only safe option for maps in my field of view. The touch controls are easy to use and the remote allows for passengers to use the device as a DVD player while off of work, simply undo the Velcro and take it with you. the battery has more then enough capacity to watch a movie and the screen has a nice contrast and color and the sound is better then average. I would not leave it in the car on a hot summer day, i have yet to see one fail for that but other makers like RCA the plastic will warp and jam the disc player, these stand up to the heat a lot better. and the batteries and still available for this unit, be care full at the beach, sand is bad !Read full review
I'm not a technical guru, but wanted to purchase a new portable DVD player for our kids to use at home and in the car. (Ours broke after about 5 years of use.) After doing some research, I found great ratings for the Sony DVP-FX930. We have been happy with it so far. My 3 & 6-year old can operate this by themselves, which is great. The remote control is a nice feature. We like the swivel screen and one of the reasons I chose this one was that it has 2 headphone jacks. It also has 6-hours of battery life, which is nice. We have only gotten about 4 hours of battery life (because we haven't changed the quality of the screen), which is sufficient. It's really nice & it suits our needs perfectly.
Now this player, may not have a usb port or swivel screen, not important, this dvd player I use as monitor and dvd player on my video shoot, yes I connect my camcorder to dvd player and I use as a monitor, when I decide to take a break from video shooting I use as dvd player just by switching mode to dvd player which is secured on to the crane arm mounted on my tripod, the dvd player and attachment for my dvd player also acts as weight balance for my crane arm mounted on my tripod, so dvd player does 3 very important things for me and I love it, can you blame me, look at the money, time and effort I saved, I don't have to buy or worry about a monitor, "I got one that's 9 inches", I don't have to buy extra weight to balance my crane arm, and of course the dvd player that I purchased will playback mostly all the dvds that can be played back on any dvd player, this allows me to check all of my custom made dvds.Read full review
Great piece of equipment! Of course, great picture, and with even cheap earplugs, the sound is amazing. 6 hour battery life adds to the value. The only downside would be that without the remote ( a remote, for something that will never be used more than 24 an arm length away??), some features aren't accessible. Overall, excellent, I would recommend it highly, in this case the Sony is worth the extra bucks that it will cost you.
