Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games will take players to Vancouver, Canada, host city of the official 2010 Olympic Winter Games. This gaming experience invites players of all ages and skill sets to face-off in some of the most intense winter competitions. Tailored to the specific system controls, Nintendo DS and Wii gamers will enjoy completely unique experiences thanks to each platform having its own specific gameplay features and modes. Players of all skill levels will enjoy the intuitive controls of both the Wii and Nintendo DS systems, in both single and multiplayer gaming modes. The Wii game will offer an even richer multiplayer experience offering co-op and competitive gameplay where the Nintendo DS brings an intense competitive element using the Nintendo DS wireless capabilities. Additionally, one of the new features to be found in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is its compatibility with the Wii Balance Board™ which can be used in some events featured in the Wii version, allowing for a more interactive and realistic gaming experience.Read full review
This game, like the original Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and Super Smash Bros Brawl, pits favorite nintendo characters and sonic characters against each other (or with each other). The main difference between the first Olympic game and this one is the addition of using the Wii Balance Board to ski, ect. The game does not come with the Balance Board (which cannot be sold separately from the fit game in stores) so players will have to buy either the Wii Fit or the Balance Board (by itself on eBay) to play certain games. If you do not want to buy the Wii Fit, the board can come by itself on eBay but it is rather pricey. So what I am basically saying is that the game is great, but if you do not want to pay the extra price for the board then do not buy it.
Purchased this game for my 5 year old grandson. He loves Super Mario Brother games and Sonic the Hedgehog games. He was very excited to have a game with both Mario and Sonic together! A little challenging for him, but getting better each time he plays.

This game has many events and characters that keep my girls excited. The games are well though out and my children find the characters enjoyable. I like the fact that everyone can play most of the events(I have three girls, one aged 12 and two 4 years). My oldest daughter loves that you can create 4 accounts to "spend" credits earned by playing. I find most games enjoyable and fairly easy to learn, which helps me when I play with them, because it doesn't take me long to get the feel for the controls again even though I don't play so much. You can even play as yourself and buy a character suit(it gives you the attributes of the character)to wear while playing. Overall, a great game!
