I think this i one of the best buys in the bushcraft knife genre, surpassed possibly only by the Terava Jääkäripuukko. This Marttiini Condor Timberjack is like a cross between the Mora Companion and the Jääkäripuukko. Mine came with a decent edge, and I was not inclined to sharpen it any further until I used it for a while since it was very useful right out of the box. The handle is very nice, as it has checkering on its comfortable rubber handle for a secure grip in a variety of environments. My only complaint about this was the sheath, which has a cheap looking belt attachment that looks like it may fail and cause loss of the knife. Even so, it's not enough to make me deduct any stars since the knife itself is worth more than the price charged here. To be honest, I've never gone wrong with any knife from Scandinavia, whether it has been a Mora, the Jääkäripuukko, or the Marttiini knives, but the Condor Timberjack is an exceptional value for the price. I can't imagine anyone not being impressed with this one!Read full review

i really like the blade on this knife. very sharp and a mirror polish. not sure the type of steel, but it is not a very high carbon. compared to the mora bush black, this martiini can hardly produce sparks from a rock for a flint steel fire starter. the mora throws as much as a steel striker so its much better. another thing. the handle on this knife is a big hotspot. the diamonds dig into the hand sharply. i like the big swell on the but, helps with the slicing cuts. the handle is a bit flimsy plastic, puching a cut or twisting to pop out a cut, you feel the rubber twist too. especially in the base. Another thing, my handle has come a bit loose and i can wiggle the blade back and forth in the handle a bit from the cutting and twisting. so on account of these things, though i love the blade and sharpness, the low quality of flint sparking and the hurting and loosening handle make me much more recommend the mora bush black. that knife is solid.Read full review

I have 5 Marttiini now to compare to Mora. I absolutely love the Marttiini handle, most comfortable to me either the rubber or wood handle version over my Mora's and have most models. I like the Marttiini sheath better as well, either the pleather or leather version over the plastic Mora sheaths, but Mora plastic sheath is far better then the Marttiini plastic sheaths. Now on to the steel, I have to disagree with those who say the Marttiini steels used are better or on par, absolutely not so in my experience thus far. I gave them a fair shake, and the Mora steels are better(carbon or SS), get sharper and hold it longer in MY experience. Both brands have been good about not chipping so a wash there. Not knocking Marttiini at all, have a timber jack on me now. But I will stick with Mora for inexpensive utility, woods, edc brand. Considering I have a very large knife collection of far better quality from high value to semi custom yet have and use both mentioned brands means I think highly of both, but line in sand is clear for ME, you may feel different. Have a blessed day fellow blade knuts.Read full review

Marttiini is a classic Finnish brand. A few of their knives are beautiful, a few (like the timberjack) are less so. The thing that is shared by ALL of their knives though is their utilitarian nature. Their knives, whether they look pretty or not, simply work. The Timberjack is no exception. Good carbon steel blade, and a comfortable handle, it's really all you need for basic bushcrafting and camping, no more, no less. If you're looking for a basic, entry level (read, affordable) knife for outdoors tasks and activities, this knife would be right up your alley.

Great bush craft knife. Carbon steel is very sharp and stays that way. Ergonomic rubber no slip handle is nice. I have a stainless Mora which is almost twice the price. I like this carbon Marttiini better. Get one!

Using it for initial food processing in the kitchen. Sharp blade and excellent grip makes short work of cutting large pieces of meat into skillet sized portions. Slices raw vegetables easily too. Very satisfied with purchase.

The title says it all. Made in Finland of quality steel that is very sharp. Just keep blade oiled with a little olive oil to prevent rust. Far superior to even much more expensive blades with stainless steel, most of which are now made in china. Safe rubber handle. No nonsense knife.

It's often said that if you take your time you will find what you're looking for. So having said that, this is a product that is for the price as good as most of the Mora style blades. I found it to be solid built with a good form fit sheath and a nice feel in the hand. the blade treatment is somewhat different as they have left the heat treat color as is, but that will come off it time. Good value.

A well made bushcraft knife, very much like the Mora Bushcraft Black or the Condor Terrasaur. Sheath is very simple polymer, again like a Mora. The steel is 1095 and it is full tang! The blade is mottled bluing on the flat for corrosion resistance but the grind is bare metal. The grip is very comfortable in most any position. Great at feathering, notching, and wood processing in general, vegetable slicing and food prep, and many more camp or bushcraft related chores. You can tape a ferro rod and a canvas needle to the sheath and paracord wrap it and you got a great wilderness tool set! Get one!

Arrived fast and is good quality…blade is thick and sharp and the rubber handle makes gripping it in wet applications easy.
