As a previous Polar customer I know about the Polar quality thought there are a few odd things that could be improved with some of there other components. This sensor works great as expected. Paired right up with my new Bryton 15 Neo cycling computer. So if your wondering in Bluetooth Smart is compatable with BLE yes they are the same standard looks like the changed the name at some point. Not sure which one is the current term I'm guessing BLE. So this sensor can work with any new bike computer that accepts BLE and has a HM feature. It can also work with IOS apple phones. If you want the most accurate heart rate for training, a chest strap model like this works great. For this heart sensor, the design is better than some other Polar products and the battery can be easily replaced without tools. Polar is known for it's accuracy and they are one of the pioneers in the heart sensor athletic area. It's not for everyone I guess but it works great for me. I also got a matching Polar Bluetooth Smart cadence sensor as well that also paired up nicely with the Bryton 15 Neo. The following applies to the related bike sensor by Polar which is not part of this product but related to those who are cyclists and may be interested. As mentioned earlier, the bike sensors though very compact have non user replaceable batteries in them. The Polar company would like customers to think they need to buy a whole new sensor. I think that was a bad decision on the part of the company because customers just won't do that. Instead they buy a competing product instead. I'm sure the company has see a decline in the usage of their cycling computers as a result. In fact, I beleive they no longer make a bike computer. They shot theirself in the foot with that non user replacable battery. The good news however, you can pry the bike sensor apart with a razor blade and replace the interior battery its a cr 1632 and there is a YT video on line that shows you how to do it very easy if your a little handy. I bought this sensor to use at the gym and for walking / hiking and other sports than biking (I have a Gamin Edge 510 for biking). For years I used Polar watches and they are a trusted name into sports, so I planned to use it with Polar Beat, but I'm somewhat dissapointed with this app. Buy Polar H7 with closed eyes, it's a very good cardiac sensor, but use it with other app. I find Polar cardiac sensor more trusty than other brand of cardiac sensor.

I'm not a fan of chest strap monitors worn while you're exercising, they always seem to lose elasticity and start to slide. Be great if they add some type of strap over the top. I bought this one for measuring Heart Rate Variability only and for that it's great. Polar has an app as well, but I'd recommend checking out the Elite HRV app. Hope this helps.

In my earlier years I was a die hard cyclist and often used a heart rate monitor in my training. That was many years ago and HR monitors were fairly primitive compared to the Polar H7 which included HRV the main reason I purchased it. The H7 easily paired with my smart phone and gives me much more info on the recovery of the sympathetic nervous system. No more over training for me with this new toy. Love it.

I've compared to my heart rate while at the doctors office and it was within 2 beats per minute resting heart rate. It's connected with several different brands of workout equipment and worked without a problem. Very simple setup.

This is my second one. My first had issues with the strap electrodes. Was a better value to buy a new one. Works great with the Polar app.

The strap is nice and has a large contact area, easy to adjust. Syncing the monitor to my phone was simple and quick. The app to collect the data is simple and easy to use and offers a bunch of info about your training. The only snag was it required a polar account, but that also easily syncs my training data online to be used in other applications.

Polar H7 is the best. Lots of scientific data available to back it up. I had the older Wearlink Bluetooth model and this BLE version is great. New strap works better (for me).
