The AquaClear Power Filter is designed to filter out debris while still preserving the beneficial bacteria in the tank. With a 500 gallon per hour flow rate, it is powerful enough to be used for tanks up to 20 gallons in capacity. The filter is mounted on the outside of the tank.
A great, powerful filter ideal for the larger fish tank -. high quality and long life. Easy to maintain. I have three and will not hesitate to get a fourth when needed. My only negative comment is that it can be difficult to remove the siphon tube from the main body tank of the filter for cleaning - it must be taken apart in the fish tank before removal. The vertical portion of the tube seats in a ,molded recess in the the front of the filter tank body. The outlet end inside the filter has a large round plastic piece surrounding it making it difficult to move in the filter tank. The siphon tube cannot be pulled straight up to remove because the the connecting joints in the vertical portion of the tube cannot slide through the molded seat. You'll have to get your hands wet taking the tube segments apart and then wiggling and tilting the top to get it out of the filter tank for cleaning. Filter is great! Buuuut... I have 2 goldfish and the "sponge" clogged up faster than i thought it would causing the filter to overflow and drain some water out of the tank onto the floor😱so make sure you rinse the sponge (using "Aquarium Water") when needed ... My water is "Crystal Clear" 👍👍👍👍👍
I have a 75 gallon tank and I have two for these filters on my tank. Very quiet, tank clear made very well. I did have the smaller ones on my tank but I could hear the water splash so I went big almost no noise. These filters have media that you can do your own combination. The other filter with the cartridge doesn't have enough media to keep my tank clean and I have tried many. I won't use any other filter.
I have many Aquaclear 110 filters. They are terrific!. You can use many different types of filter media other than the original. Lots of flexibility. It also circulates a lot of tank water and has an incredible flow volume. The whole Aquaclear line is wonderful.
